Trev’s Virtual Cassette Library 209
Minimal and focused, it unfolds with quiet intensity and subtle structural beauty.

Good day listeners, wherever you are. Trevor here.
Welcome to episode 209 of the Virtual Cassette Library. This is a 60 minute virtual tape with a metaphysical flip at the half way mark.
This episode is based on the track “Lectures on Radio Telegraphy” by Andrew Heath from the upcoming album “Airships & Aeronauts” which drops on the 5th of June via the Driftworks label. Also a massive thank you to See Blue Audio, FOLK POLICE RECORDINGS, whitelabrecs, Mystery Circles, Imaginary North and Mahorka for sponsoring the episode with material.
This is a gentle, introspective journey through soft melancholy and quiet wonder. It feels like a slow, overcast spring day — hazy light, light rain on umbrellas, fading golden-hour glow, and the comforting solitude of hidden places. There’s a pervasive sense of transition and impermanence (spring haze, last light, aftermath, phantom presence), balanced by moments of serene beauty and meditative calm. The atmosphere is warm yet wistful, organic and slightly ghostly, inviting deep reflection without ever becoming dark or heavy.
If you make music, or are a label, and would like to be featured, send your file links or Bandcamp codes to trevlad@gmail.com. I’d love to hear what you’re working on.
So settle in, turn it up a bit, and let’s see where it takes us. I hope you enjoy it.
One side flip, just the music.
Side A
00:00:00 NRV – Harugasumi (Spring Haze)
Warm, fuzzy Japanese ambient/drone with elegiac chords and soft, enveloping textures. Like a gentle spring mist that softens the landscape while hinting at renewal and quiet melancholy.
00:08:24 Pulselovers – Three Ravens
Atmospheric, folk-tinged ambient/electronic work with a mysterious, narrative edge. Evokes ancient folklore and brooding English countryside through subtle pulses and haunting layers.
00:11:17 IDRA – Arcadia
Idyllic, utopian ambient inspired by paradisiacal visions. Lush, flowing textures and serene tones create a sense of lost or imagined perfection—peaceful and glowing.
00:15:03 Spheruleus – Umbrella Days
Intimate, reflective piece from The Lost Catalogue. Soft, rainy-day collages of field recordings and warm drones capture sheltered, contemplative moments under grey skies.
00:16:53 Julien Hauspie – Last Light
Gentle, fading ambient with cinematic warmth. Delicate layers evoke the final golden rays of daylight—poignant, peaceful, and beautifully transient.
00:20:51 CRSY – Lattermath
Minimal, precise ambient with a sense of aftermath and resolution. Clean textures and thoughtful spacing create a calm, post-climax stillness.
00:22:10 Wavefiler – Between Whether
Modular synth ambient exploring uncertainty and transition. Fluid, wavering tones drift beautifully in the space between decision and doubt.
00:23:58 Chorchill – A Phantom Thing
Ethereal, ghostly ambient with elusive, haunting qualities. Subtle shifts and shadowy textures feel like encountering something half-remembered or barely there.
Side B
00:29:21 Lazy Summer Dogs and Dorraa – Secret Garden
Long-form, meditative ambient inviting deep relaxation. Lush, verdant textures and gentle evolution create an immersive, hidden sanctuary of calm and wonder.
00:42:37 Jeff Gburek + Eryk Nowacki – Ensnared, Bewildered
Organic, free-form improvisation blending acoustic instruments and experimental textures. Tangled, emotive layers evoke confusion, entanglement, and raw emotional immediacy.
00:46:20 The Merricks – bds3
Sparse, introspective ambient/electronic exploration. Minimal and focused, it unfolds with quiet intensity and subtle structural beauty.
00:51:21 Andrew Heath – Lectures on Radio Telegraphy
Thoughtful, lower-case ambient built around piano, electronics, and field recordings. Evokes early wireless communication through crackling signals, distance, and historical resonance.
