Good day listeners, wherever you are. Trevor here. Welcome to the Virtual Cassette Library. Episode 262. A 12 track virtual tape with a metaphysical flip at the half way mark. If you make music, or are a label, and would like to be featured, send your file links or Bandcamp codes to trevlad@gmail.com. I’d love to hear what you’re working on. Please leave a tip and subscribe to the Mixcloud channel every little helps. A mystical, quirky, and emotionally varied ambient journey through alchemy, jungles, societal decay, and warrior cries. Side A moves from occult geometry and evening bonsoirs into fragile qualia, jungle scans, and solipsistic isolation. Side B shifts through tungsten pillows, multiple ways, lonely days, crying warriors, and fried naptime whimsy. Overall mood: Atmospheric, contemplative, and eccentric with a mix of dark mystery, gentle warmth, and playful chaos. Perfect for late-night immersion, reflective listening, or adventurous evenings. I’ll do all the talking now, in the intro, as I’ve put a lot of love into making seamless segued mixes. There is just one break halfway through to give the “virtual cassette” title a meaning. The shows are free for the first week and then go to my very few Mixcloud subscribers who get to enjoy the 262 episodes plus the 826 other shows whenever they like all for the price of… I actually don’t know what you can buy for 3 quid. It used to be a coffee. As a subscriber you also get access to my new series Veil Frequencies based on a fictional world I’ve created called The Resonant Veil Enclave. Each episode is around three hours and recorded from one of the floors from the 24 buildings in the veil. Mixcloud subscribers also get the ever expanding version of the upcoming compilation titled Quiet Figures. This episode of The Virtual Cassette Library is inspired by the track “Naptime” by an artist with the fantastic name “Guest Bartender Deborah Toyota” from the album “Music for Babies” which is out on the channel sponsoring Mystery Circles label. Also on this episode you’ll be aurally pleasured by Paris, France based modular artist Aurel Val in the rather housey track “Bonsoir” from the latest release on Hylé Tapes titled Mods-1. Then I’ve dived into the crates a bit with a 2020 track by Glasgow based Fragile X and the track “Qualia” from a fantastic Trip FM compilation called “Red Shift”. It also appears on the Fragile X album Hive. After that another Hylé Tapes release this time from the 2024 album Biodiverse by Biodiverse, Anee Molly & Canblaster. I’ve chosen the rather fun 9 minute track “Jungle Scan”. Ending the A side with some braindance techno is Craig Murphy aka Solipsism and the track “Sierra Oscar Kilo” from the latest release on the Mighty Force label. Starting off Side B is Buffalo, New York based Matt Donatelli aka SURVEY CHANNEL with an older track originally from 2020 the lovely wonky “Tungsten Pillow” from the 2025 Remastered album Along the Wind Spear. After that Limoges, France based Mea Poulpa and the chilled bass lines and beats of the track “Ways” from the album Beyond Glass which is out on Camembert Électrique Then some Eastern block Jungle from Plovdiv based Jawhinge and the track “post_soc” from the album WeirdWired out on Bulgarian label Mahorka. This leads into some trip hop stylings from a Protuberance remix of the Discknocked feat. Montse track “Lonely day” taken from the 2014 album Recollections also out on Mahorka. We continue with another piece from this great album, the super chilled beat driven Protuberance track “Crying Warrior”. Then the penultimate piece for today comes in the form of the episode inspired piece “Naptime” by Seattle, Washington based duo Julia Shapiro and Samur Khouja who call themselves Guest Bartender Deborah Toyota. Finishing us off is the rather funky “Permafried” by another duo in the form of Hz & Fisty Kendal who are Nicholas Langley and Stephen Cousins. this is from the album Now What? which is out on Langley curated label Third Kind Records. But first, to set the vibe is a friend of the show from Bristol, UK, James McKeown aka Hawksmoor with a Teenage Engineering medieval folksy new creation from the album “Yclept Thorn” this is the track “Trismosin”. Now settle in, turn it up a bit, and let’s see where it takes us. I hope you enjoy it. One side flip, just the music.

At least two of the tracks contain the Bucla Music Easel.
The A side contains “On The Waves Of Neptune” an exclusive from the album “Where Trees Go To Die” the latest offering from Stone Anthem, a hallucinatory journey through ambient textures, dense organic drones, and otherworldly frequencies. Layering field recordings, modular synthesis, and hushed vocals, the album was created in an attempt to maximise immersion and create a sonic field of bliss, a slow-evolving soundscape where perception bends and time dissolves. The album’s initial blueprint was created in a quiet hamlet in the Spanish mountains in 2023 with very little equipment. So the scenery of forests and mountains were a great influence on the album’s development. This is also from where all of the field recordings on the album were sourced.
Castles in Space is delighted to be working with this charismatic, vibrant and super-talented young artist. He’s just turned 18.
The B side contains an exclusive by colab who I know nothing about and I don’t believe are the Georgian Hard techno outfit. The track here, Troubled appears on the Bricolage labels 27 track compilation album X celebrating their 10th year of magical releases. It’s a ‘who’s who’ of the label past, present and future. Do check it out. Links to everything played are in the show notes and in the comments.
I won’t be commenting between the tracks. You can join nanogods poetic visualisations on the time line. Don’t be shy.
