Trev’s Virtual Cassette Library 345
Another reel of the Virtual Cassette Library begins. Twelve tracks, two sides. A virtual cassette that turns itself at the halfway mark, the oxide catching just long enough to mark the seam before the second side continues.
These are not playlists. Each episode is structured as a pair of continuous sets: six tracks on each side, mixed and stitched so the joins sit almost inside the grain. The sequence is the form.

The episodes remain free for the first week. After that they move into the Mixcloud subscriber archive. Subscribers also receive Veil Frequencies, the ongoing series of three-hour transmissions—extended traversals rather than selections, moving through a curtain of sound that occasionally seems to register the listener in return.

Blue skies over golden acres, then landscapes that prefer to stay unfinished.
Side A keeps the acres already golden and the skies rather pleased about it, softens an ambient Ibiza so the trickster is slightly surprised, lets the water belong to the sky and walk itself home, remixes a shadow planet by Sam Prekop so the shadows grow longer, celebrates the dark with bats already in formation and bringing a small gift, and keeps the brook underwater and quite content while the library reads from the bottom shelf. Side B places a solaris in ethereal space that is already making room, reflects eyes that are mirrors signalling back, waters the plants with magnetic fields that are quite domestic about the dishes, turns decay into light that is still arriving, mid-turns an emu while the silence is amused, and leaves the landscapes unfinished and happier for the postponement.
Overall mood: Amused, and quietly luminous — full of pleased skies, domestic fields, and landscapes that prefer to stay open. Perfect for dusk listening, soft islands, or sitting still while the next spool still waits.

The shows stay free for the first week, wandering about with their shoelaces undone. After that they slip quietly into the hands of my Mixcloud subscribers, who currently have over eleven hundred other episodes waiting for them whenever the mood strikes, which in my experience is usually Tuesdays, or during eclipses, or when the kettle boils. Subscribers also receive the expanding series of three-hour adventures titled Veil Frequencies, which is less a mixtape and more a long walk through a curtain that may be sentient.
Now. Each of these episodes is a two-part outing, just like the classic cassette. Unlike mixtapes or playlists, these two sides are curated as proper DJ sets, six tracks segued into one continuous mix, stitched together so carefully you can barely see the thread. Unless you look.

Side A grows toward the light the title already promised, smokes a soft suburb with curtains half-drawn, fits the eclipse into two letters and a hyphen, files a signal under cool, measures an English furlong at Clay Pipe speed, and lights a candle that has decided to chase the high white. Side B returns light across the hedges with the gate on the latch, spends a lifetime at steady altitude with the butty packed, files wonders under experiment while the tableau dries next door, slows the first stage of sleep on purpose, lets gravity keep its end of the bargain, and leaves the unfinished landscape open at the edge for the next field.
Overall mood: Contemplative, slightly domestic, and quietly measured — full of half-drawn curtains, steady horizons, and rooms left for the next field. Perfect for dusk listening, fields walked at tape speed, or sitting still while the next spool still waits.

Then if I say Preston you’ll probably say Polypores. If you know Polypores then you’d probably not recognise this as being the same artist. I’ve chosen the track Foxes taken from his latest release Wildlife. It’s availabe on cassette through the Aural Canyon label.
After that we head to Italy and an artist who ended yesterdays episode Far away Nebraska with the drifting drone tones of a track titled It’s been a while since I’ve been here from the album Halfway from nowhere which is out on Seil Records sub-label Kordel Records.
Closing Side A is Tehran based Iranian artist Nahal Kavand and the lovely floating drones of the track Confusion from the album Echoes of a Fading Existence which is out on Lᴏɴᴛᴀɴᴏ Series which is the sub-label of rohs! records.

Welcome back, sonic travellers. Six tracks down. Six still waiting.
You’ll hear another artist I played yesterday. Italian artist Gino Fioravanti (Aglaia) with the longest entry in todays episode at 13:50 titled Unicorn from their latest release Altitudes which is out on legenday Projekt Records.
After that we’ll head to my present city of resedence Stockholm and an older one from 2012 by Martin Herterich’s alter ego Sand Circles and the final track from his album Motor City, it’s also the shortest piece of the episode at 1:10 titled Summer Echoes II.
Then we find ourselves in Southsea, UK based artist swimming lesson. Now this is a super duper exclusive from a collective of absolutly wonderful souls that I’ve had the pleasure of knowing for a few years now. They’ve gotten together to form The Synthesis Co-Operative and the first release is out on the 4th of September and will be available on cassette, Minidisc and digital and will be accompanied with a 40 page zine. Preorders from 14th August. This swimming lesson track, is stunning, and is called Transistor Revolution. Other names on this first release which will go by the name The Synthesis Co-Op Volume One will include The Earl of Dean, Legacy Systems, HDRF, Scholars of the Peak, theMLFs, Visionary Lines, Warmfield and more.

After that a spanking new release by Rennes, France based artist Wahn. and the track “Something Opens (Genda Remix)” from the album “Re: Echo Mist Light”. Out on another label who features a couple of times in this episode and in most of my shows. Bulgarias finest, Ivo Petrov curated, Mahorka label.
The penultimate track of the first side of the virtual cassette is by Lelystad, Netherlands based outfit TV-99-AD and the tune simply titled “Kess” from the album “Sounds from the Sea Bottom 1995-2000” out on Japanese label FORM@ RECORDS.
Finishing off the first half is a track from the album “Aurora In Georgian Bay” by Chris Moore aka Light Vortex. You’ll hear the track “Riverine”. You can still get a CD copy via the Mortality Tables label.
But first, to set the vibe is Toronto, Ontario based R&D with the live improvised piece titled “Bobbing for Buoys” from their self released outing “Periscope Depth”.

Good evening, or morning, or whatever fragment of time you’ve found yourself in. This is Expansive Waves, episode twenty-three. I’m Trevor—your host, your guide, your occasional sonic conspirator.
Tonight’s programme is not for the hurried. Eight pieces, each longer than 12 minutes—most stretching far beyond that—each more patient than the last. If you’re expecting choruses, drops, or anything resembling urgency, you may want to try another channel.

We begin with a vast, unfolding live session that feels like drifting through forgotten orbital debris.
This is Secret Nuclear with Omega Redux. A NYP 45-minute live recording of six pieces from last summer, first heard on Kate Bosworth’s DARK TRAIN radio show. Broadcast on 21 July 2025. Layered with approach vectors, shadows, and extended consoles. Breathe it in.

From Pennsylvania, a solitary reflection on endings and endurance.
Matthew Nowik — (we have) 5 years left. A slow-burning meditation on what might remain. Synth layers that feel like watching clouds dissolve. Another NYP release. I feel a pattern forming here.

Giannis Gogos — Ambedo (part 2). Twenty-one minutes of attentive stillness from the recent Ambedo release on Whitelabrecs. The quiet attention that art still needs. This is not a NYP release as whitelabrec sponsors the channel with the best ambient releases out there.

The EP is an innovative audio-visual collaboration between Birmingham based contemporary artist Tara Harris and experimental musical ensemble Cries From the LTN.

From Meanjin/Brisbane, Australia—a wavelength tamer reworking melancholy into vast space. Inspired by a single, heartbreaking scene from The Sopranos. This is the track doir from the new album No Statue, freshly re-recorded after life turned sideways. Raw, drenched in melancholy. Monumental. Released just yesterday on 4000 records.

This is Corvid One Cassette — MOBBING CALLS. From the album Two. Corvids circling, warnings in the air, stretched into drone. This is the second release from the label Black Pylon. Definitely a label to follow and watch out for.
Corvids know something we don’t. Maybe that’s why it lingers.

“Hello, Trevor here, and this is the all new Virtual Cassette Library and episode one‑six‑five.
First up we have the La Ponto Ensemblo which is actually a duo made up of Hans-Dieter Schmidt and Edward-Clark Cornell who together make delicate and harsh neo-classical pieces. This is track five from their latest release Fragile Objects: In A Harsh Environment.
Headphones on, let time dissolve, and let the music claim you.
Next up an old favourite of mine in the form of fellow Irishman David K. Mason. Better known as Listening Center. Mason is now based in New York and runs the rather fantastic Temporary tapes label. Although this track, Plugged In Nollaig, (nollaig being Irish for Christmas) is from the Subexotic Records compilation EP Yule 25.
Just a heads up, starting back on episode 156, there’s a little cipher game running through the series. Each episode, during the intermission, you’ll hear a number. Scribble it down. After ten episodes, you’ll have the full sequence. Put the pieces together, crack the cipher, and you’ll unlock a code that knocks ninety‑five percent off anything on my Bandcamp page. Which means you can scoop up the whole discography for about two quid. It’s not meant to be difficult—just enough to keep you awake at night wondering if you’ll get it right.
Now next up the original sounds of Sam Prekop. Sam is a master of modular synthesis. This is the title track from his latest release Open Close which is available through Thrill Jockey Records.
Now Mark Donlon also known as CZiGO with the dare I say jazz fusion injected piece, SERPITUDE, from his album, Techno Feudal. The latest to drop on New Zealand based Machine Records.
Now Russian artist NDORFIK with the Idm vibe Saimaa which is named after a Finnish lake and here is given a Finnish remix by the legendary Lackluster. The album of the same name is available through the Local Gods label.
Next up is from the i u we records label. A label focussing on the beauty of female diversity in electronic music.
The artist is Silver Galaky and is a duo made up of Anna-Maria Van Reusel on modular and keyboard synthesizers, and usually a very imaginative guitarist Dennis Slypen. Although this piece might well be just anna letting loose on her 5U Moon Modular system. The track is Strahlensammler and is from the upcoming compilation release connected #3. Dropping on i u we records on the 20th of January.
Now one of my favourite Swedish artists at the moment. Albin Johansson who simply goes by the name Albin. Everything Albin has released is gold. He has that retro library music ear which I cherish. This is the title track from the name your price EP DFAM which I believe is entirely written on the Moog Drummer From Another Mother. Albin is also a curator of the Malmö label Paltunes. Let’s go.
And now staying in Sweden in a way. from my neighbours up the road Passed Recordings recent, must have Chrimbo compilation The Ghost of Christmas passed I’ve pulled another great track from the 35 piece strong release in the form of this short entry, Snowfields by the artist Angel who I no nothing about. Enjoy…
Next up a long live piece I’ve kept its entirety for the episode. This is the artist Ryan Watts who goes by the wonderful name of Akira Film Script. Here with the piece E. Not to be confused with E or E.. Which are tracks on the same album titled Live at the Modern. It’s released on a label you should all know by now, whitelabrecs run by the unstoppable Harry Towell.
And now to end the virtual A side another figure of the ambient scene who does more than his fair share, Boris Potschubay who we all know as Jogging House. Boris curates the fantastic label Seil Records on which he has released the album Kiosk. Here he is with the track Worn.
Starting off the B side was the wonderful harp-like piano sounds and jazz phrasings of Brooklyn based artist Eliot Krimsky with the track, Transmission, from the album, I Made My House. Out on the outstanding Moon Glyph
Next a track of my own titled Trunk Stubbed Wiser which is a What3Words geographical location where I’ve filmed a visual to go with the piece on youtube.
It’s from the album TVCL 07.
Now a legend who for me embodies the late 90s IDM mood. French artist Alain Pachins, better known as, CIALYN here with a live take called, Last Lights / Winds Reader, from the album, 24:1900 Session Live.
Now to Melbourne bassist and producer Karl Willebrant. The ultra prolific Willebrant has released two albums since the release of The Knight Seas which was released in November. Here is an almost 11 minute treat, Thoughts of Them (A Knight on a Beach Mix – slowed and reverb)
Next up the unmistakable organic electronic sound of KILN which is actually a group made up of Kevin Hayes, Kirk Marrison, and Clark Rehberg III. Here is a track from their 8th album, Lemon Borealis. Which was released on the wonderful label, A Strangely Isolated Place. This is Ptarmigan which is a form of grouse found in northern and arctic regions.
And now a short piece from the fun Dutch artist Toxic Chicken. This is the track, Inner Worlds, from the album, Felicity out on the brilliant label Ingrown Records.
Staying with Ingrown Records, here is another quicky, from label curator, Raw Ryan , here as the artist, Anubis Rude, and the 37 second ditty, Spirit Bell, from the album, Explorer. Support the Ingrown Records label. It’s needed.
Next up Jason Courtney aka, In Darkness There Is Light shortened to (IDTiL),
and another Machine Records release titled, A Screensaver Of Emotions, this is the pumping minute long, Ahhhh Sequence.
Now to the penultimate track and something different from British born, Vienna based, Mark Peter Royce Featuring Cecilia C from Tempestine and the track, Antidote, from the album Twilight in the Altered World.
We end with the beautiful ambient warblings of Collette Andrea who goes by the name Gollden. “I’m Trevor. Bringing you ninety minutes, two virtual sides, forty-five minutes each. Fifteen tracks per set. No chatter, no interruptions. Just the music, rolling on like a festival stage that turns—one act fading, another coming into view.” This episode has an exclusive track Karesansui by Wellington, New Zealand based artist CZiGO. Karesansui means “dry landscape” or “dry mountain water” and refers to a minimalist style of Japanese garden that uses rocks, gravel, and sand to represent natural landscapes like mountains, islands, and rivers without any water. Union Nurture Roaring is the episodes subtitle, as well as the track you’re hearing in the background and it’s geographical location which I’ve filmed and can be experienced on YouTube.
I’m Trevor and I curate these 90-minute genre bending drifts through frequencies from around the globe. No commentary. No interruptions. Just pure sonic immersion. Two, 45 minute mixes, 15 tracks per set with a side change half way.
Picture the listening experience like being at a music festival where the artists play on a rotating stage. Each act is allotted time for their piece and as it ends the next act takes over rotating into view.
Styles for this episode range from ambient to post-rock, from eurorack modular to folk. The musical keys in focus are D sharp E flat and A sharp minor, B flat minor.

Fascinate
Hello there, listeners. It’s me. Trevor.
You’ve pressed play on another Virtual Cassette Library. Twelve tracks. Two sides. A little plastic ghost that flips itself at the halfway mark, like a polite pancake.
If you make music, or you run a label, or you simply own a shed full of strange noises and would like them filed somewhere warm, send your links or Bandcamp codes to trevlad@gmail.com. I read every one. Promise. I read them with both eyes and, on special occasions, a third one.
The shows stay free for the first week, wandering about with their shoelaces undone. After that they slip quietly into the hands of my Mixcloud subscribers, who currently have over eleven hundred other episodes waiting for them whenever the mood strikes, which in my experience is usually Tuesdays, or during eclipses, or when the kettle boils. Subscribers also receive the expanding series of three-hour adventures titled Veil Frequencies, which is less a mixtape and more a long walk through a curtain that may be sentient.
Now. Each of these episodes is a two-part outing, just like the classic cassette. Unlike mixtapes or playlists, these two sides are curated as proper DJ sets, six tracks segued into one continuous mix, stitched together so carefully you can barely see the thread. Unless you look.

A cruise along a signposted road, then a heart lit in a place still waiting for its name.
Side A follows the signs with the construct still standing and happy to drive, keeps the face continuous from one frame to the next, files a polite plea under the smear-test disasters, numbers the first fluid from dust to dawn, lets the shade learn a lyric behind a half-drawn curtain, and fascinates with the fungus that holds the wood together. Side B glows umber between brown and light, posts a New Penzance Island from the film, keeps the last note of a reef in its feathers, chirps a zither small enough for a beak, leans into petrol and jasmine on the same camber, and leaves the light on in a town the map has yet to label.
Overall mood: Slightly luminous, and quietly named — full of half-drawn curtains, open lanes, and places still waiting for their labels. Perfect for dusk drives, roads that know the way, or sitting still while the next spool still waits.
