Trev’s Virtual Cassette Library 337

Temptation.

Hello there, listeners. It’s me. Trevor.

You’ve pressed play on another Virtual Cassette Library. Twelve tracks. Two sides. A little plastic ghost that flips itself at the halfway mark, like a polite pancake.

If you make music, or you run a label, or you simply own a shed full of strange noises and would like them filed somewhere warm, send your links or Bandcamp codes to trevlad@gmail.com. I read every one. Promise.

The shows stay free for the first week. After that they slip quietly into the hands of my Mixcloud subscribers. Subscribers also receive the expanding series of three-hour adventures titled Veil Frequencies, which is less a mixtape and more a long walk through a curtain that may be sentient.

Now. Each of these episodes is a two-part outing, just like the classic cassette. Unlike mixtapes or playlists, these two sides are curated as proper DJ sets, six tracks segued into one continuous mix, stitched together so carefully you can barely see the thread.

I hope you enjoy the adventure. Mind the flip.

An adventure for the one who must be obeyed, then a sky watched in company.
Side A keeps Haggard’s flame warm in the sequence, reaches the pole with the radio still crackling from the ice, folds the shroud so the outline remains kind, pours a small aperitif before the meal, finds the empire still in the foundations under the roads, and leaves temptation numbered among sixty-four fluxes on the table for you to look. Side B keeps the past still sitting in the chair, grazes elk on a coastal flat with the window open, shares a long look from the mezze table, projects a holographic father already solid and familiar, lets the hearts decide on forever with the pulse steady, and watches the weight of the night sky together while the desert holds both of you.
Overall mood: Mythic, and quietly shared — full of open windows, warm maps, and skies that prefer company. Perfect for dusk listening, coastal flats, or sitting still while the next spool still waits.

Trev’s Virtual Cassette Library 292

www.mixcloud.com/djsofabed/tvcl-292/

Good day, listeners… or should I say, travellers of the tape.
Trevor here. You’ve pressed play on another fragile spool of the Virtual Cassette Library. Twelve-track virtual cassettes that flips themselves at the halfway mark.

If you make music, or run a label, and fancy a place in the library, send your links or Bandcamp codes to trevlad@gmail.com. I read every one. Promise.
Tips and subscriptions keep the reels turning. Every little helps the library stay open after dark.
A seasonal, slightly restless ambient journey through summer heat, stored sequences, and coastal gaps.
Side A opens in Indiana solstice light and green energy, then moves through overloaded London rooms, shifting Quiet Figures, 1980s earthshine slowness, and warped inner-weather shelves. Side B holds Mediterranean headland water, rusty robot dreams, Mersey light, Tokyo sequences from some other time, a choked dub-techno pulse, and ends at Hope Gap under Ravilious colours.
Overall mood: Warm, nostalgic, and quietly unstable — full of stored time, coastal air, and communities hanging together. Perfect for late-summer listening, train windows, or sitting with what the season still holds.

The shows remain free for the first week, then slip quietly into the hands of my Mixcloud subscribers, who currently have over eleven hundred other episodes waiting for them whenever the mood strikes. Subscribers receive the expanding series of 3-hour adventures titled Veil Frequencies. They also get the ever-growing advance version of the forthcoming compilation Quiet Figures.

The tape unspools its visions.

00:00:00 odd person – all skeletons come from indiana
odd person – all skeletons come from indiana. Solstice heat marks part two of four seasons. Spirit faces south at zenith. The sun arrives in recorded summer light.
00:04:11 Rai Mondo – Green Energy
Rai Mondo – Green Energy. Austrian grandeur opens into fusion and progressive colour on Art Form 5. FORM@ gathers submissions into one shared compilation breath.
00:09:50 The Both And – we have this
The Both And – we have this. Programmable systems meet live intervention. Edges overload and new rooms appear. Communities of musicians and workers hang together in London rooms.
00:14:26 philippe neau – payysages.mouvements.
philippe neau – payysages.mouvements. Quiet Figures gather as nobodiosundz drift through shifting terrain.
00:17:55 Erik Wøllo – Fast and Slow
Erik Wøllo – Fast and Slow. Earthshine lights the unseen face. Four-track and eight-track machines return 1980s slowness. Drones and sequencer pulses rise and subside across twenty short crossings.
00:20:56 SPTW – Shelves
SPTW – Shelves. Warped loops, liquefied vocals and analog tape textures sit beside pencils, desks and bottles. Two collagists keep their heads above water in a time-capsule of inner weather.

The cassette reaches its midpoint and turns.

00:23:21 Neglect – Cap De Creus (original mix)
Neglect – Cap De Creus (original mix). Headland light and Mediterranean water hold the coast.
00:29:16 Autonomaton – Rusty robots dream
Autonomaton – Rusty robots dream. Collected work from 2015 to 2025 moves from noise and drone toward fluffy ambient, then into dub and breakz. Hardware and computer share the same long sleep.
00:33:04 autumna – helen and her cousin
autumna – helen and her cousin. Capstone festival days give way to quieter corners. Light over the Mersey and street sound set the pace.
00:36:41 Nekomachi – Some Other Time
Nekomachi – Some Other Time. Fifteen years of stored sequences run through effects and samples in Tokyo rooms, no DAW required.
00:38:09 Yunze Ou – Choke Array
Yunze Ou – Choke Array. One hundred and seventy BPM carries dub-techno depth and halftime pulse. Ableton layers expand the loop into personal language.
00:42:23 Gilroy Mere – Hope Gap
Gilroy Mere – Hope Gap. Forty-mile train journeys from St Leonard’s feed laptop sketches. Ravilious colours become texture and tempo. Clarinet, flute, trumpet and voice join the laundry-studio air.

The visions complete their circle.
The oxide continues its quiet journey until the end of the spool.

Also in the works: the next compilation, Quiet Figures, release date 26 September.
Uncover the narratives whispered by the silent, ever-present figures that shadow us, through compositions that unravel their hidden mysteries.
Does that stir anything?
