Trev’s Virtual Cassette Library 287
www.mixcloud.com/djsofabed/tvcl-287/

Good day, listeners… or should I say, travellers of the tape.
Trevor here. You’ve pressed play on another fragile spool of the Virtual Cassette Library. Twelve-track virtual cassettes that flips themselves at the halfway mark.
If you make music, or run a label, and fancy a place in the library, send your links or Bandcamp codes to trevlad@gmail.com. I read every one. Promise.
Tips and subscriptions keep the reels turning. Every little helps the library stay open after dark.
A dynamic, slightly nocturnal ambient and experimental journey through elephant rhythms, fractured breakbeats, quiet shade, and slowly fading stars.
Side A moves from South Indian folk-electronic dance and spare war circuits into darkstep fractures, live trio gravity, breath stuck in buffer, and compact chip energy. Side B opens across inland oceans and modular comfort, then rises through live fire, soul-deep space, red-kite aerials, and ends as the stars go out one by one.
Overall mood: Textured, restless, and quietly expansive — blending rhythmic intensity with reflective stillness and cosmic closure. Perfect for late-night listening, focused immersion, or following the slow turning of the tape.
The shows remain free for the first week, then slip quietly into the hands of my Mixcloud subscribers, who currently have over eleven hundred other episodes waiting for them whenever the mood strikes. Subscribers receive the expanding series of 3-hour adventures titled Veil Frequencies. They also get the ever-growing advance version of the forthcoming compilation Quiet Figures.
The tape unspools its visions.

00:00:00 Sunken Cages – Elephant Dance
An elephant dance unfolds through South Indian folk colours and electronic drums. Sunken Cages – Elephant Dance. Dark synths, drones and industrial textures resynthesize into deconstructed club motion. Voices and remixes from across the globe rise as fire brought to the rhythm.
00:10:51 Alex Ringess – War
Minimal circuits pulse under the title of war. Alex Ringess – War. Three or four instruments hold the space. Project files from Analog Abstractions carry the same mix forward in spare luminous lines.
00:17:50 Captive Portal – This minus five (Protuberance darkstep remix)
Darkstep breakbeats fracture and reform. Captive Portal – This minus five (Protuberance darkstep remix). Lush pads from oldschool rave meet atmospheric drum and bass and experimental breaks, each layer covering another band of the spectrum.
00:23:46 Slate Trio – BS7
Guitar, drums and bass lock into BS7. Slate Trio – Neil Smith, Matthew Jones, Alex Heane. Three voices move together in live trio gravity.
00:33:15 Substak – Breath stuck in buffer
Sunlight retreats while long shadows dance at the base of a tree. Substak – Breath stuck in buffer. Memories linger among colours that wait for morning. Quiet things sleep in the cradle of shade.
00:36:46 Danny Playamaqui – Chip
Chip fragments scatter across broken beats and saboteur sweetness. Danny Playamaqui – Chip. Noise, basses, synths and hall atmospheres pack into compact X4 motion, Plaza del Sol energy glowing in the mix.
The cassette reaches its midpoint and turns.

00:43:46 Eric Angelo Bessel – Seagull
A seagull rides above a hidden inland ocean. Eric Angelo Bessel – Seagull. Familiar roads, weathered shorelines and forgotten infrastructure reveal unexpected connections. Eighteen compositions invite wandering among landmarks that have always waited beyond recognition.
00:47:09 Ricardo M. Peixoto – comfort
Comfort arrives through modular skin and tape loops. Ricardo M. Peixoto – comfort. Field recordings and generative chaos balance harmony with rhythm. Silence is sculpted into shared sonic connections.
00:54:57 Anam Gu Anam – Feu
Fire opens in live improvised heat. Anam Gu Anam – Feu. Electronica, ambient and experimental palettes capture a unique moment. Each take remains a personal explorative soundscape.
01:01:51 John Louis Kluck – Soul Deep
Soul deep space drifts through shifting forms. John Louis Kluck – Soul Deep. Soft pulses and distant echoes hover like quiet constellations, sculpting weightless horizons.
01:08:26 CRSY – red kite aerial
A red kite hangs in aerial current. CRSY – red kite aerial. Wings cut slow circles through open sky.
01:10:52 Grey Malkin – One By One, The Stars Are Slowly Going Out
Stars go out one by one as the tides of time come in. Grey Malkin – One By One, The Stars Are Slowly Going Out. A bridge of light leaps from earth to the unknown shore. Arthur Machen’s gulf yawns, then spans.
The visions complete their circle.
The oxide continues its quiet journey until the end of the spool.
Also in the works: the next compilation, Quiet Figures, release date 26 September.
Uncover the narratives whispered by the silent, ever-present figures that shadow us, through compositions that unravel their hidden mysteries.
Does that stir anything?

Trev’s Virtual Cassette Library 200
Melancholic layers glow with hope and impending shadow—profoundly atmospheric.

Good day listeners, wherever you are. Trevor here.
Welcome to the 200th episode of the Virtual Cassette Library – music from all over the world, sparked by a single track that sets the tone for the set. This is a 60 minute virtual tape with a metaphysical flip at the half way mark. If and when I get a couple more subscribers then I’ll go back to doing 90 minute versions, complete with commentary.
This episode is based on the track “People Say I’m a Dreamer” by friend of the channel Neil Stringfellow, also known as Audio Obscura. Available on the upcoming album “Dream States”. Dropping June 12. Neil also just entered a track for my upcoming compilation “The Mystery of the Night” Applications are still open. Get your piece in by June 24. All info on the album page on Bandcamp.
If you make music and would like to be featured, send your file links or Bandcamp codes to trevlad@gmail.com. I’d love to hear what you’re working on.
Please, if you can, subscribe — even if it’s just for a month, it makes a real difference.
So settle in, turn it up a bit, and let’s see where it takes us. I hope you enjoy it.
No breaks, just the music.
