Welcome to the 200th episode of the Virtual Cassette Library – music from all over the world, sparked by a single track that sets the tone for the set. This is a 60 minute virtual tape with a metaphysical flip at the half way mark. If and when I get a couple more subscribers then I’ll go back to doing 90 minute versions, complete with commentary.
This episode is based on the track “People Say I’m a Dreamer” by friend of the channel Neil Stringfellow, also known as Audio Obscura. Available on the upcoming album “Dream States”. “I’m Trevor. Bringing you ninety minutes, two virtual sides, forty-five minutes each. Fifteen tracks per set. No chatter, no interruptions. Just the music, rolling on like a festival stage that turns—one act fading, another coming into view.” This episode has an exclusive track Karesansui by Wellington, New Zealand based artist CZiGO. Karesansui means “dry landscape” or “dry mountain water” and refers to a minimalist style of Japanese garden that uses rocks, gravel, and sand to represent natural landscapes like mountains, islands, and rivers without any water. These gardens, often found in Zen Buddhist temples, are designed for contemplation and meditation, symbolizing natural elements through careful arrangement and raked gravel patterns that mimic water. Karesansui is from the upcoming album Techno Feudal which drops December 12 on Machine Records.

Also on the B side, the track, Clothes, from, The Sky original soundtrack by Eric Wetherell, released as a limited promo download, features music from the 1970s HTV children’s sci-fi drama Sky, created by Doctor Who writers Bob Baker and Dave Martin. The series blends ecological themes with science fiction, following an alien seeking an ancient portal to correct his misplaced arrival in time.
The soundtrack, transferred from Wetherell’s masters, is presented on a 10-inch transparent ice blue vinyl LP, including 26 cues with unused and alternative takes. The music, featuring harpsichord, glockenspiel, timpani, cello, and electronics, is tense and atonal, enhancing the show’s eerie atmosphere.
The album will be available for pre-order on Bandcamp from August 1st, on Buried Treasure records, with store releases in early September. It includes a TV Times postcard and an A3 poster of the Sky magazine cover illustrated by Arnaldo Putzu.
