Hello there, listeners. It’s me. Trevor.

You’ve pressed play on another Virtual Cassette Library. Twelve tracks. Two sides. A little plastic ghost that flips itself at the halfway mark, like a polite pancake.

The shows stay free for the first week, wandering about with their shoelaces undone. After that they slip quietly into the hands of my Mixcloud subscribers, who currently have over eleven hundred other episodes waiting for them whenever the mood strikes, which in my experience is usually Tuesdays, or during eclipses, or when the kettle boils. Subscribers also receive the expanding series of three-hour adventures titled Veil Frequencies, which is less a mixtape and more a long walk through a curtain that may be sentient.

Now. Each of these episodes is a two-part outing, just like the classic cassette. Unlike mixtapes or playlists, these two sides are curated as proper DJ sets, six tracks segued into one continuous mix, stitched together so carefully you can barely see the thread. Unless you look.

Side A grows toward the light the title already promised, smokes a soft suburb with curtains half-drawn, fits the eclipse into two letters and a hyphen, files a signal under cool, measures an English furlong at Clay Pipe speed, and lights a candle that has decided to chase the high white. Side B returns light across the hedges with the gate on the latch, spends a lifetime at steady altitude with the butty packed, files wonders under experiment while the tableau dries next door, slows the first stage of sleep on purpose, lets gravity keep its end of the bargain, and leaves the unfinished landscape open at the edge for the next field.
Overall mood: Contemplative, slightly domestic, and quietly measured — full of half-drawn curtains, steady horizons, and rooms left for the next field. Perfect for dusk listening, fields walked at tape speed, or sitting still while the next spool still waits.

“Hello, I’m Trevor, and this is episode one‑six‑one of the Virtual Cassette Library—which also happens to be my 900th mix show. I’m not entirely sure how that happened, but here we are. Today’s theme is Obey Beams Starting—which, as usual, is both the track you’re hearing underneath and a location you can find on a map, if you’re the sort who enjoys chasing coordinates on What3Words.
We’ve got ninety minutes ahead—two sides, fifteen tracks each. Some names you’ll know, some you won’t, and that’s half the fun. Early on you’ll hear Night Birds by The Inventors of Aircraft—an exclusive from the upcoming Whitelabrecs compilation sleeplaboratory6.0. Always a pleasure to be able to share something before it officially takes flight.
Now then, starting back on episode 156, there’s a little cipher game running through the series. Each episode, during the intermission, you’ll hear a number. Scribble it down. After ten episodes, you’ll have the full sequence. Put the pieces together, crack the cipher, and you’ll unlock a code that knocks ninety‑five percent off anything on my Bandcamp page. Welcome, sonic wanderers. You’ve arrived at Episode 133 of The Virtual Cassette Library.
Another Oddly Screamed is the episodes subtitle, as well as the track you’re hearing in the background and it’s geographical location which I’ve filmed and can be experienced on YouTube.
These mixes are 90-minute genre bending drifts through curated frequencies from around the globe. No commentary. No interruptions. Just pure sonic immersion. 2, 45 minute mixes, 15 tracks per side with a side change in the middle.
