Trev’s Virtual Cassette Library 328

Layer of Images

Hello there, listeners. It’s me. Trevor.

You’ve pressed play on another Virtual Cassette Library. Twelve tracks. Two sides. A little plastic ghost that flips itself at the halfway mark, like a polite pancake.

If you make music, or you run a label, or you simply own a shed full of strange noises and would like them filed somewhere warm, send your links or Bandcamp codes to trevlad@gmail.com. I read every one. Promise. I read them with both eyes and, on special occasions, a third one.

The shows stay free for the first week, wandering about with their shoelaces undone. After that they slip quietly into the hands of my Mixcloud subscribers, who currently have over eleven hundred other episodes waiting for them whenever the mood strikes, which in my experience is usually Tuesdays, or during eclipses, or when the kettle boils. Subscribers also receive the expanding series of three-hour adventures titled Veil Frequencies, which is less a mixtape and more a long walk through a curtain that may be sentient.

Now. Each of these episodes is a two-part outing, just like the classic cassette. Unlike mixtapes or playlists, these two sides are curated as proper DJ sets, six tracks segued into one continuous mix, stitched together so carefully you can barely see the thread. Unless you look.

I hope you enjoy the adventure. Mind the flip.

A university of unstable knowledge descending, then a jump that knows the trick.
Side A descends a staircase held slightly out of true, lets paper flowers drink the dye until the bloom is already in the fibre, measures sixty metres of disco rhythm, improvises a cello in the nude, scores a short career for three spiders and one fly, and layers images until the clock bends. Side B reaches the edge of the wood and waves you in by further paths, holds a fabric up to the window so not all refracted light is as it seems, collects light patterns in tone studies that wander somewhere welcome, lets children and whales share a pool large enough for both, grass-roots a Chilean forest guardian, and lands the leap exactly where the title meant to.
Overall mood: Contemplative, slightly eccentric, and quietly luminous — full of open staircases, bent clocks, and paths that already know the way in. Perfect for dusk listening, listening parties on the first of November, or sitting still while the next spool still waits.

This has been The Virtual Cassette Library, episode 328.
Travel safely between the frequencies.
I’ll meet you on the other side of the next spool.

Trev’s Virtual Cassette Library 273

www.mixcloud.com/dashboard/my-shows/published/

Good day, listeners… or should I say, travellers of the tape.
Trevor here. You’ve just pressed play on another fragile spool of the Virtual Cassette Library. Episode 273. A twelve-track virtual cassette that flips itself at the halfway mark, whether you’re ready or not.
If you make music, or run a label, and fancy a place in the library, send your links or Bandcamp codes to trevlad@gmail.com. I read every one. Promise.
Tips and subscriptions keep the reels turning. Every little helps the library stay open after dark.
A soft, slightly quirky ambient journey through floating persistence, growth, residual hope, and quiet promises.
Side A drifts from stuffed repetition and first cultivations into remixes of light, machine minimalism, low flames, and mysterious beings. Side B moves through glitchy indexes, bubbling collaboration, woodland ghosts, emptiness, suspended paths, and ends on a gentle promise.
Overall mood: Contemplative, warm, and gently playful — full of soft textures and quiet emotional space. Perfect for deep listening, late mornings, or peaceful immersion.
I’ll introduce Side A now. Side B will wait for the intermission, as is tradition.
The shows remain free for the first week, then slip quietly into the hands of my Mixcloud subscribers, who currently have 1,098 other episodes waiting for them whenever the mood strikes. Subscribers also receive the expanding series Veil Frequencies, recorded floor-by-floor inside the 24 buildings of a place called the Resonant Veil Enclave. They also get the ever-growing advance version of the forthcoming compilation Quiet Figures.
Side A
On this episode you’ll hear young Italian composer and producer Luciano Masala, better known as hershel, with the floating piece “Stuffy stuffy stuffy stuffy stuffy stuffy stuffy stuffy stuffy” from his debut album silent steps for a better way, available on CD from Whitelabrecs.
Then Estonia-based Paul Beaudoin invites us into adaptive drift with “1st Cultivation” from his brand-new release spores.dat, out on Sheffield’s Audiobulb.
Next, Wahn appears via a remix: Dissolved’s reworking of “Not All Is Lost”, taken from the album Re: Echo Mist Light, in which 18 artists remix Wahn’s classic Echo Mist Light. The release celebrates Bulgarian label Mahorka’s 500th release.
We’re back with Whitelabrecs for French composer Anthony Elfort (as Toàn) and the track “DEL 1”, created entirely on a single machine — the Deluge — from the album Solitarium.
Staying with Harry Towell’s wonderfully prolific Whitelabrecs, we hear a guitar-based gem from Michael Cottone’s long-running project The Green Kingdom: “By Low Flame”, taken from the soothing album Vespera.
Closing Side A is an exclusive from my upcoming compilation Quiet Figures: Brighton-based BUNKR with the vibrating “The Beings of Borde Hill”. The album currently features 11 artists including Anhnch, Cries from the LTN, Keith Seatman, BUNKR, The Gaye Device, HDRF, Simon Heartfield, The Earl of Dean, Graham Thorpe, Visionary Lines and Substak. There’s still time to submit — the window closes 24 September.
But first, to set the vibe: hershel with “Stuffy stuffy stuffy stuffy stuffy stuffy stuffy stuffy stuffy”.
Now settle in. Turn it up just a little. Let’s see where the tape takes us.
One side flip. Just the music.
Side B
Welcome back, sonic travellers. Six tracks down. Six still waiting.
You’ll hear UK-based Bibio together with Vienna’s Dorian Concept on their bubbling collaboration single “Shame”, out on Warp Records.
Then we revisit older Triplicate Records material with Nottingham’s George Evans (Suncastle) and the good-mood creation “Ghost in Trees” from the 2020 album Platformer.
Next we head to one of my favourite labels — the one-of-a-kind Cyclical Dreams from Buenos Aires — for a minimal track titled “Into Emptiness” by Trittau, Germany’s Christian Fiesel, taken from his recent release On A Second Thought.
Near the end we travel to Alfortville, France, for Japanese artist Hiroaki Yamamoto and the opening track “Paths” from his album Suspended in the Wind, the latest release on Driftworks.
And finally, from the excellent cassette compilation Connection: sculpting silence on French label Hylé Tapes, I leave you with Ekin Fil and Dominic Coppola’s wonderfully soothing “Promise To Never Be Like Them”.
But first, we return to 2020 and Santa Fe, New Mexico’s Richard Alfaro with the glitchy “Index”, taken from the Trip FM compilation Red Shift. Being six years old, it’s Name Your Price on Bandcamp — thank you to Triplicate Records for helping keep this channel sustainable.
Enjoy…

Trev’s Virtual Cassette Library 259

https://open.substack.com/pub/trevlad/p/trevs-virtual-cassette-library-259

Good day listeners, wherever you are. Trevor here.
Welcome to the Virtual Cassette Library. Episode 259. A 12 track virtual tape with a metaphysical flip at the half way mark.
If you make music, or are a label, and would like to be featured, send your file links or Bandcamp codes to trevlad@gmail.com. I’d love to hear what you’re working on.
Please leave a tip and subscribe to the Mixcloud channel every little helps.
A gentle, seasonal, and introspective ambient journey through light, warmth, cold textures, and personal discovery.
Side A moves from first light and summer flames into quantum bindings, center-finding, and dated reflections. Side B shifts through cold textures, controlled growth, bubble fragility, speaking pebbles, and small waves.
Overall mood: Serene, contemplative, and quietly wondrous with a strong connection to nature and emotion. Perfect for deep relaxation, morning listening, or peaceful reflection.
I’ve gone back to doing more podcast style episodes but I’ll do all the talking now in the intro as I’ve put a lot of love into making seamless segued mixes. There is just one break halfway through the episode to give the “virtual cassette” title a meaning. The shows are free for the first week and then go to my very few subscribers who get to enjoy the 259 episodes plus the 821 other shows whenever they like all for the price of… I actually don’t know what you can buy for 3 quid. It used to be a coffee.
This episode is based on the wonderful modular bubblings in “Bound by Weak Interaction” by Glasgow based music maker Fraser Rowan aka “Ty Lumnus” from the release “Resonances in the Hidden Field” and that’s out on Astral Discs.
On this episode you’ll be aurally pleasured, once again, by Adam Filip and the Future Sound of London vibe, pre-Christian Slavic ritualistic track “Summer Flame” from his release “The Returning Circle” and that’s out on the every present Cyclical Dreams label.
Stoke On Trents own Phil Heeks is back with his unmistakeable retro sci-fi adventures as The British Stereo Collective in “Bloodrush” from his latest release “ProtoSynthesis”.
Then the shortest piece for today comes from a rework of a Raúl Cantizano & David Cordero piece by Japanese artist, Haruhisa Tanaka with “Mi centro vine a encontrar” ‘I came to find my center.’ From the album ‘Even if the morning comes’. Aunque llegue la mañana · Refracted.
Ending the A side is composer and founder of Hylé Tapes, Richard Francés with some nice intimate sound diary with deep bass drones in the track “14 Octobre 2023 II” from the album “Afterwork II (Octobre 2023)”
Starting off Side B with some distorted drone blisters is the second choice from the Connection: sculpting silence compilation on Richard Francés Hylé Tapes label. This one from Berlin based, French artist, kritzkom titled “Texture of Cold”.
St. Cloud, Florida based Olio Flux brightens the view in “It’s All About Control (Instrumental)” from the NYP release “Selected Frequencies”.
Channel friend, Estonian artist, Paul Beaudoin soothes us with the micro sounds of “10th Cultivation” from his album “spores.dat” out on Audiobulb.
The third choice from the Connection: sculpting silence compilation comes in the form of cassette bliss “Shabondama” by Japans own Hiro Nakamura, aka, Tokyo Bedroom Orchestra
Then the penultimate piece for today comes in the form of the french ambient composer and improviser Tom Leclerc and a rather hopeful piece “the pebbles speak” the final choice from the Connection: sculpting silence compilation.
Finishing us off is the ever drifting wash of ´small waves’ Petites vagues from French Canadian artist Mathieu Lamontagne aka Arbee from his latest from the Chitra Records sub label Ambient Cat, Titled En vain.
But first, to set the vibe is modular sound artist, Milan based, Francesca Pavesi aka IDRA and the piece “First Light” from the compilation album that’s dominated this episode “Connection: sculpting silence” from the latest channel supporting label “Hylé Tapes”. Go check them out.
So settle in, turn it up a bit, and let’s see where it takes us. I hope you enjoy it.

Trev’s Virtual Cassette Library 232

Homeworld Deepwater Moment

Based on the track “Minilogue 2” by “Nick May” from the album “Sketches: Ambient Works”.
Good day listeners, wherever you are. Trevor here.
Welcome to the Virtual Cassette Library. A 60 minute virtual tape with a metaphysical flip at the half way mark.
A deeply personal and introspective ambient journey centered on nostalgia, home, memory, and inner reflection.

EXPANSIVE WAVES 26

Good evening… or morning… or whatever smeared fragment of clock time you’ve drifted into tonight. This is EXPANSIVE WAVES 26. I’m Trevor — your host, your unreliable cartographer of the long haul, your occasional sonic conspirator.

This one’s not built for the impatient. Eight pieces. Each one stretching beyond twelve minutes. Together they uncoil for over three hours. If you came looking for hooks, drops, or anything that resembles forward motion, best to paddle elsewhere. Or just dim the lights, let the room breathe, and allow the ceiling to become a slow-moving planetarium. That works too.

Big thanks to Ivo Petrov at the Mahorka label for nudging me into a Plank Tone. I got gloriously lost and ended up delivering four. The first surfaced on April 8th. Tonight you’ll hear more of those strange, unhurried faces — independent corners, leftfield wanderers, music that refuses to be hurried.

We open with a twenty-four-minute soup. For anyone who’s ever been in a band, this is that glorious end-of-session moment when everyone’s a little fried and the music starts melting at the edges.

Merlin’s Spell — Merlin’s Spell [Full Demo]
A warm, hazy collective trance where sounds blur into one another like ink dropped in still water. Recorded back in 1978, gently refurbished for 2026. Out on The Dream Journal Institute — every penny heading to local libraries and quiet good causes.

That was Merlin’s Spell with Merlin’s Spell. Settle in now. Let the kettle do its slow work. Let the cat claim your chest like a small, purring dictator. Let the outside world keep spinning without you for a while.

Next, a dear friend of the show: Drew Huddart, recording as Scholars of the Peak. Fresh from a live set at Dubrek in Derby — the whole concert, audience whoops and all, because Drew decided not to chop it into polite pieces. Glorious nostalgic synths that feel like warm Sunday light through old lace curtains in the Peak District.

Scholars of the Peak — Live @ Dubrek Studios, Friday 10th April 2026
Bleeps and warm analogue sighs drifting through a room full of gentle human noise — the kind of set that makes you nostalgic for the future.

Now we arrive at the longest single piece I’ve ever slipped into this programme — a full hour, trimmed by a few cheeky seconds just so the software would swallow it. This is serious business.

OdNu + Ümlaut — Metamorphoses
An ever-shifting ambient landscape that never settles, never repeats, never lets you look away. Not lazy drift — this is meticulous, constantly breathing evolution. Out on Audiobulb, arriving June 6th. Prepare to be quietly astonished.

An old favourite now — the Russian master x.y.r. who can drop you straight into deep jungle with nothing more than a few well-placed field recordings and patient tones.

x.y.r. — altered zone (longform edition)
Birdsong threading through endless green layers, turning any room into a porch overlooking humid canopy at dusk. Tip for fellow travellers: when in doubt, add birds. They open windows that weren’t there before.

Back into the Mahorka family, 2019 vintage.

Thomas Park — Failsafe
Blade Runner rain on a corrugated tin roof, random synth trumpet stabs cutting through toxic haze. Neon signs flickering in puddles that never quite dry.

Still in the Mahorka stable, this time 2014.

Ab uno — Remorae (b side)
Deep drone waters where subtle synth lines move like slow silver fish just beneath the surface — barely visible, yet impossible to ignore once you notice them.

Penultimate unfolding, from The Jewel Garden label’s compilation.

Floating House Ensemble — Seven
Sax and strings delicately sprinkled over choral swells, like light catching on the edge of a slow-moving tide. As the Bandcamp page quietly reminds us: “I stood there, the whole day wrapped around me. I stood there, crying, smelling vine.”

And so the waves begin their gentle retreat for another evening. Eight long forms. Eight patient unfoldings. If any of them settled into the quieter corners of your night, you’ll find the links and love on the episode page at trevor.se and in the Mixcloud comments.

Feel free to leave something on the timeline — a half-thought, a soft sigh, or even a single emoji that somehow contains the entire universe.

We close episode twenty-six with Michael Plaster, recording as yttriphie.

yttriphie — Paddock of Skies
Twinkling space music from the album Solipsis on Projekt Records — delicate starlight that slowly swells until the whole sky feels like it’s breathing with you.

Until the next fragment of drifting time pulls us back into the same warm current… this is Trevor, signing off from EXPANSIVE WAVES 26.

Trev’s Virtual Cassette Library 187

23 March 2026

///grinning.cheek.traffic

(Loch Ness pub in Stockholm where the beer tastes like regret and possibility in equal measure)

Virtual mixtape radio for the sonically adventurous. 20 artists. Drops about three times a week. No schedule, just a passion for independent music.

…hey.
welcome back, or maybe welcome for the first time, to the slowest-growing show on the internet. or off it. whatever.
this is Trev’s Virtual Cassette Library. Episode one-eight-seven.
we’re still calling it a virtual mixtape radio for the sonically adventurous, but let’s be honest—it’s just me in a room full of blinking lights and dying batteries, trying to convince the void that independent music still matters.
twenty artists. no schedule. drops when the mood hits, which is usually when normal people are asleep.
the three-word subtitles? they’re What3Words locations that mean something to me. personal little coordinates. this one’s grinning.cheek.traffic. Stockholm pub. good beer, better stories you forget by morning.
If you want in—send weird files, codes, confessions, whatever—to trevlad@gmail.com.
labels getting the slow nod tonight: Moolakii Club Audio Interface, Castles In Space, Adventurous Music, Bricolage, Audiobulb, Ingrown Records, i u we records, Noray Records… the usual suspects haunting the margins.
styles? liminal ambient, hauntronica, post-disco, whatever falls between the cracks. places on the map: Québec, Prague, Pereira. the world’s getting smaller, but the weird corners are still there.
Send stories for Chord Confessions. that song that ruined or saved you. record it yourself or I’ll read it in my sleep-voice and play the track. win-win-win.
also doing Trev Tales now—stories woven into the sets. like this is one long dream you’re not sure you want to wake up from.
One new follower since last time. Paso stranger. cheers, mate. you’re in the club now. the one with no meetings and no rules.…

A soft hiss opens the curtain. dust motes spin in pale light. first pulse arrives like a hangover you didn’t earn.

First out f5point6 – The Second Day (Remastered).
https://f5point6.bandcamp.com/track/the-second-day-remastered
Grey dawn leaking through blinds that gave up years ago. yesterday’s coffee is a cold accusation in the mug. synths breathe slow, like fog rolling over abandoned motorways.
headphones on. let time dissolve. frequencies claim you. no refunds.…

That was ‘The Second Day (Remastered)’ – by f5point6 from the album ‘In Retrospect’ out on the See Blue Audio label.
The next artist is Ver – Combine.
https://secuenciastemporales.bandcamp.com/track/ver-combine-2
Metallic clanks fold into wet footsteps, voices smear across rusted combine blades turning in slow motion under an endless flat sky.

Yes ‘Combine’ by Ver from that ‘Commemorative Compilation’ I’ve been playing lately out on the Secuencias Temporales label.
And now Dåggěr (Szórëgg) – Telekinetic Coercion.
https://secuenciastemporales.bandcamp.com/track/d-gg-r-sz-r-gg-telekinetic-coercion
Invisible fingers press the temples, thoughts lift like iron filings toward a humming magnet, chair legs scrape backward without feet.

Crunchy, haunted vibes there with ‘Telekinetic Coercion’ by Dåggěr (Szórëgg) also from the ‘Commemorative Compilation’ release.
Dub time now, Rural District Lo-Fi Recording Project – Planning A Bootleg LP?
https://ruraldistrictlofirecordingproject.bandcamp.com/track/planning-a-bootleg-lp
Cassette deck whirs in a damp shed, pencil scratches setlists on yellowing paper, distant lawnmower drone leaks through the window like memory bleed.

Gotta love that ‘Planning A Bootleg LP?’ by Rural District Lo-Fi Recording Project from the self released album ‘Jolly Johnny and his Oompahing Oomlahs’.
Time to pull some shapes on the dance floor with Baxter Dury – Schadenfreude Ft. JGrrey
https://baxterdury.bandcamp.com/track/schadenfreude-ft-jgrrey
Cigarette cherry glows in the dark cab, someone else’s misfortune tastes sharp and sweet on the tongue, laughter curls like smoke rings.

That was ‘Schadenfreude Ft. JGrrey’ by Baxter Dury from the album ‘Allbarone’ out on Heavenly Recordings
We retire to the lounge with 36 – Echo Diffusion.
https://pitp.bandcamp.com/track/echo-diffusion
Synth notes dissolve into mist, each chord sends ripples across black water, distant towers repeat the lament softer, softer, gone.

You’ve been listening to ‘Echo Diffusion’ by 36 from the album ‘Reality Engine’ out on the Past Inside the Present label.
Now the wonderful Ann Annie – home. This is a short 2 minute outing.
https://annannie.bandcamp.com/track/home-3
Bare feet on sun-warmed floorboards, lace curtains breathe in and out, a kettle clicks off somewhere deeper in the house that still smells of yesterday’s bread.

Blissful acoustic guitar there in ‘home’ by Ann Annie from the album ‘El Prado’ available through the ’Nettwerk’ label.
Which brings us nicely to Empty House – Sea Birds
https://mcpm.bandcamp.com/track/sea-birds
Gulls wheel above peeling paint, empty rooms fill with salt wind, curtains flap like trapped wings against salt-crusted glass.

Hope you’re still with us on the planet after ’Sea Birds’ by Empty House from the album ‘MCPM018 compilation album’ out on the amazing Moolakii Club Audio Interface label.
Time to head back to the club now with Pablo Diarra – Humour noir.
https://songe-anima-records.bandcamp.com/track/humour-noir
Cigarette burns slow in ashtray, punchline lands like wet gravel, laughter echoes in an empty corridor lit only by neon bleeding through blinds.

Yes ‘Humour noir’ there by Pablo Diarra aka Saïph from the album ‘Griffe Sonam’ out on Songe Anima Records
Next up an artist I feature quite regularly James Adrian Brown – ‘Poster Child’ from the album ‘Forever Neon Lights’ out on channel champion label Castles In Space
https://jamesadrianbrown.bandcamp.com/track/poster-child
Faded gig poster curls at the edges, spotlight glare trapped in yellowing tape, young face staring back with too much certainty.
Catch you on the flip side.

B Side
Needle drops into silence, groove dust crackles, the hidden track breathes like someone left the tape running after everyone went home.
This is the legendary Deerhoof – Apple Bomb.
https://deerhoof.bandcamp.com/track/apple-bomb
Teeth sink into skin, juice sprays, frantic drums explode outward, tart sweetness turns chaotic sugar-rush panic.

Classic Deerhoof there with ‘Apple Bomb’ from the album ‘Apple O’’ available through Joyful Noise Recordings
Next we get some haunted chills via Catharæ, Trem 77 – Dreams of the Mediterranéant (Fade at Brighton Beach Mix)
https://adventurousmusic.bandcamp.com/track/dreams-of-the-mediterran-ant-fade-at-brighton-beach-mix
Waves lap shingle under sodium lamps, bougainvillea scent mixes with diesel and chips, sun-bleached dream fades into Brighton March grey.

Cheers to Trem 77 for sending me ‘Dreams of the Mediterranéant (Fade at Brighton Beach Mix)’ from the album ‘Dreams of the Méditerranéant’ out on the Adventurous Music label.
We stay in the same world now Minimal Drone GRL and Belial Pelegrim – A Remembered Land Long Forgotten
https://bricolageglasgow.bandcamp.com/track/a-remembered-land-long-forgotten
Low hum rises from cracked earth, ancient stone walls breathe dust, wind carries fragments of half-remembered songs across barren fields.

‘A Remembered Land Long Forgotten’ there by Minimal Drone GRL and Belial Pelegrim from the album ‘Movements of a Cloud’ out on the Bricolage label.
Time to get weird Keith Seatman – Another Strange Thing
https://keithseatman-cis.bandcamp.com/track/another-strange-thing
Ornate music box unwinds in attic gloom, figurine spins jerkily, something moves just beyond the torch beam.

Great work there in ‘Another Strange Thing’ by Keith Seatman from the album ‘Counting To Ten Then Back Again’ out on Castles In Space.
Next up a piece of my own as Trevlad – Furnish Rests Goggle
https://trevlad.bandcamp.com/track/furnish-rests-goggle
Old sofa sags under fairy lights, goggles fog with breath, synth arpeggios drift like cigarette smoke through thrift-shop clutter.

That was ‘Furnish Rests Goggle’ which is the What3Words geo location of a hotel I spent a few days in back in January. It’s from the album TVCL 10.
Next we go minimal and dark with Autistici – 2.25 Degrees of Internalisation
https://autistici.bandcamp.com/track/225-degrees-of-internalisation
Faint heartbeat clicks inside the skull, temperature drops 2.25°, thoughts fold inward like origami swans sinking in black ink.

You’ve been witness to ‘2.25 Degrees of Internalisation’ by Autistici from the album ‘Familiarity Unfolded’ out on the Audiobulb label.
Now to brighten things up a notch Heaven Topology – Adventure Compass
https://ingrown.bandcamp.com/track/adventure-compass
Needle quivers between impossible directions, star charts peel from damp walls, footsteps echo toward a horizon that bends upward.

Excellent ‘Adventure Compass’ by Heaven Topology from the album ‘Describer’ out on the king of listening parties Ingrown Records
I always like to add a pinch of Jazz to the episodes so here’s Robohands – Achilles
https://robohands.bandcamp.com/track/achilles
Tendon strings pluck taut, bronze dust settles on mechanical joints, slow-motion stride across cracked marble, heel exposed.

Great drumming there in ‘Achilles’ by Robohands from the album ‘Oranj’ out on Bastard Jazz Recordings
Now the longest track of this episode at just under 10 minutes. This is Never Sol – Dark Mountains, Red Dust
https://iuwerecords.bandcamp.com/track/never-sol-dark-mountains-red-dust
Boots crunch red powder, peaks swallow the sky, wind carries iron taste and distant thunder that never arrives.

What a trip in ‘Dark Mountains, Red Dust’ by Never Sol from one of the best compilations released so far this year ‘connected #3’ out on i u we records
Before we go our separate ways and the virtual tape clicks out. I just want to thank you all for taking the time to listen and I hope the journey sends you in the direction of these artists. All the links to the material are in the comments on Mixcloud, on trevor.se and on the channel substack.
To send us off Rhucle & Arbee – Plain from the album of the same name. Available on Noray Records

Trev’s Virtual Cassette Library 176

04 February 2026

///hits.enjoyable.amended

Virtual mixtape radio for the sonically adventurous. 20 artists. Drops about three times a week. No schedule, just a passion for independent music.

Good evening, or morning, or whatever sliver of the clock you’ve managed to carve out for yourself. This is Trev’s Virtual Cassette Library, episode 176. I’m your guide, Trevor.

The cassette sits ready in the deck, labels hand-scribbled, oxide already flaking a bit at the edges. Side A and Side B, twenty artists strung across them like beads on a frayed string. We’ll flip the tape halfway through, that satisfying clunk and hiss, because some things refuse to be digital.

Tonight we drift through ambient drifts, kosmische pulses, drone meditations, a touch of library funk, some psychedelic sprawl, electroacoustic murmurs from places like Bulgaria, the UK, Munich, Buenos Aires, Athens, Rome, Sheffield, Colorado, and a few others that don’t fit neatly on any map. The longest track stretches out patiently, Asha Patera’s – Wandering in the Upside Down from Sounds for the Soul Records, clocking in at just over 11 minutes. Durations aside, none hurry. There’s an exclusive track which open the B side from Moscow artist DEE_KAY and his track Bellcut. But we’ll get to all that in a bit.
Headphones on if you’ve got them. Volume where it feels intimate. Let the kettle whistle if it wants to. The world can wait.

We begin with a January release from the Mahorka label in Bulgaria, a collected volume of drone and teknoiz spanning a decade. Autonomаton offers The UFO project remix—eerie, floating synth washes that suggest something observed from a great height, unhurried and slightly unsettling in the best way. From the album Collected Not Lost 2015-2025 Vol 1: Drone and Teknoiz.

Autonomаton – The UFO project remix.

Next, Mark Ellery Griffiths with Synthi Sequence B. Loops and sequences built on vintage synths, patient repetitions that build quiet architectures. Mark is a regular of my shows and doesn’t get the credit he should. Check out his Bandcamp releases. He’s nudging on 50 and they’re name your price. Synthi Loops Sequences 2025 – Self released back in December.

Mark Ellery Griffiths – Synthi Sequence B.

Danielle Nia now, Longing For Togetherness. Warm, enveloping tones from i u we records, a gentle pull toward connection without ever forcing the issue. Stunning patchwork from the great Connected 3 compilation. Released a couple of weeks back on i u we records.

Danielle Nia – Longing For Togetherness.

Greek artist Substak and his track Apartment Window from Belgian ambient label Daydreamers. A quick view onto quiet streets, field recordings woven into subtle rhythms, the sound of somewhere lived-in and watched over time. From the EP Empty Bench – released not two weeks ago.

Substak – Apartment Window.

A good friend of the channel Asha Patera, Wandering in the Upside Down. Dream-logic drifts and inverted atmospheres from Sounds for the Soul Records, like walking through familiar rooms that have rearranged themselves while you slept. The Vale of Shadows – Sounds for the Soul. Which is a Stranger Things inspired ambient compilation. Also released in January. This is the long haul.

Asha Patera – Wandering in the Upside Down.

Belgian artist Jeroen Lauwers is, Red Stars Over Tokyo with In Trance from self released The Burning Spiral. Pulsing, hypnotic acid tinged layers that suggest endless night drives through neon-lit cities that might not exist. The Burning Spiral. released back in December.

Red Stars Over Tokyo – In Trance.

Southend On Sea artist Adrian Lane, After The Deluge. Post-flood calm, piano and strings emerging from residue, reflective, haunted and sparse. Their Ghosts and Ours – out on Sheffields finest Audiobulb.

Adrian Lane – After The Deluge.

Argentinian artist Puppy Bordiga with mRn, Solarium. Collaborative warmth, sunlit electronics and gentle percussion from Walking the Way III. Self released back in November.

Puppy Bordiga with mRn – Solarium.

ATA Records is a label and I can’t get my head around if they are also a band. They really know their library stuff but on this release and others the artist is simply ATA Records, no credits to the artists which is a shame. Anyway This is Tatsuya, The Sword. Library archive material, cinematic and evocative, with a heartfelt flute. drawn from Vol 4. The Library Archive Vol 4 – ATA Records.

ATA Records – Tatsuya, The Sword.

Tape flip. The mechanism clicks, heads realign, oxide continues its slow decay. Side B.

Coming up the exclusive for episode 176 is by Moscow Marist DEE-KEY now, Bellcut. Sharp, precise cuts through ambient haze from Local Gods. Local Gods. Drops next week in the 12 of February. Remember where you heard it first.

DEE-KEY – Bellcut.

Now from one of the best Italian jazz-funk library albums of the ’70s. Oscar Rocchi’s Genziana. Herbal, pastoral electronics evoking wild flowers and Italian hillsides, from Erbe Selvatiche on Four Flies Vaults which is the digital imprint of Four Flies Records.

Oscar Rocchi – Genziana.

Now to a favourite label and a release from November. Grant Beasley, The Vanishing Point. This is the title track. Horizon-line drones and slow dissolves. Grant Beasley – The Vanishing Point – Cyclical Dreams.

Grant Beasley – The Vanishing Point.

Next filter sweep time. LA artist Good Sunset, Taormina. Which is a hilltop town on the island of Sicily and I bet they have good sunsets there. Sun-drenched, cinematic reveries from Cinema Everything on Mystery Circles.

Good Sunset – Taormina.

And here’s one from me, under Trevlad—EXPANSIVE WAVES 18 (Slipping Precautions Obvious). A previous transmission excerpt, layered and recursive. TVCL 07 – Trevlad.

Trevlad – EXPANSIVE WAVES 18 (Slipping Precautions Obvious).

Next the poppiest piece I’ve played in a good while. Nostalgia 77, You Where In My Dream Last Night. Dream-state jazz inflections, soft and lingering. Love the bass lines and sound. This is the first single from their upcoming EP titled: When The Lights Gone. Which drops on the 1 May on Nostalgia 77’s Bandcamp page.

Nostalgia 77 – You Where In My Dream Last Night.

Next up Guitars and synth with GROSSO GADGETTO, and “the track Once there was only dark”. Apocalyptic soundscapes for a world winding down, from “Soundtrack for a Dying World by Dark Supreme & Grosso Gadgetto”. Sampled voices of Matthew McConaughey & Woody Harrelson.

GROSSO GADGETTO – “Once there was only dark”.

Now get your world music psychedelic slippers on. We’re off to Melbourne Australia. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Flying Microtonal Banana. Microtonal excursions, psychedelic without apology, the shortest in the episode at 2:34 yet packing strange tunings into tight space. From the album of the same fantastic name. Released on the Heavenly Recordings label about a year ago.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard – Flying Microtonal Banana.

Now back to 2021 and some wonky synth chords. Near Stoic, Music For A Friend. Intimate, thoughtful pieces from Notebook Thoughts Short Stories on Third Kind Records. A definite Boards of Canada vibe to this one.

Near Stoic – Music For A Friend.

Now I wish my doorbell sounded more like this. The penultimate track and the ultimate wind down. Miguel Otero, Blooming in Sturton Street. Gentle blooms and street-level calm from Islas Calm Cloud. One of the recent compilations let loose on Whitelabrecs. Get it now…

Miguel Otero – Blooming in Sturton Street.

And before the tape ends. Thanks for staying with it. These transmissions aren’t built for haste, and neither, I suspect, are you. Support the artists if any of this lodged somewhere—buy the music, share the names. Stream this one on Mixcloud for a week if you need to revisit. All the paths and links live at trevor.se.
And if it was possible to close on a chiller note I think I have you covered. We close with Astropilot, The River Knows No Hurry. Flowing, unforced kosmische from Stockholm label Valley View Records, a reminder that some currents simply continue.
Until the next time the cassette calls. Stay resonant. Stay expansive. Let the sounds find their own way.
Trevor, signing off.

Trev’s Virtual Cassette Library 174

28 January 2026

///furnish.rests.goggle

Virtual mixtape radio for the sonically adventurous. 20 artists. Drops about three times a week. No schedule, just a passion for independent music.

Good evening, or morning, or whatever sliver of the clock you’ve washed up in. This is Trev’s Virtual Cassette Library, episode one hundred and seventy-four. I’m Trevor, turning the reels in the half-light, playing custodian to these sounds that drift in from places most folk never bother to tune toward.

We’ve got twenty artists lined up across the two sides tonight, twenty fragments of cassette spirit. No rush, no hits, no pleading for your attention. Ambient drifts mingle with electroacoustic textures, spiritual jazz breathes alongside kraut-tinged electronics, improv flickers meet drone horizons. Patience is the only ticket required.

Side A coming right up as we ease in with Bary Center and The Source Of Something Greater – Guide Me Through The Hills Of Your Home – Third Kind Records back in 2020. I’d describe this as Textured ambient with a glitch undercurrent, dub-like pulses buried in meditative marshland haze, a quiet hope threading through the sadness.

Then Asheville, North Carolinas Spooqs brings the shortest track of the episode clocking in a 2:27 with Lyskae, The Fissure – Biomes. Cinematic electroacoustic soundscapes, a pilgrimage mapped in melody across dunes and into salt water, landscapes that remember your footprints.

CV Vision follows with The Jam – Bureau B 2025 – Bureau B. A slice from the label’s latest roundup, electronics carrying that Hamburg lineage of krautrock echoes and avant-garde restraint.

The longest offering this round at 6:53 Resonating With Life offers Spinning Out of The Skies – Resonating With Life – Cyclical Dreams. Drone and ambient suspended in slow rotation, skies that keep unfolding long after you’ve looked away.

Another short one at 2:50 Galecstasy & Mike Watt Trio step up with Imitation Squid – Wattzotica. Which came out today January 28 on A favourite label and channel sponsoring Mystery Circles. I’d say this is Free improvisation from the Joshua Tree, punk-edged bass from Watt meeting synths and drums in unscripted motion, raw and restless.

GODTET deliver Stepper – +The Sydney Symphony Orchestra – La SAPE records. Spiritual jazz meeting orchestral weight, live from the Sydney Opera House, improvisation threading through fixed structures like light through stone.

Now, me, Trevlad with Obey Beams Starting – TVCL 09. Ambient electronics pulled from the library’s own recent episodes, beams that start quiet and refuse to explain themselves.

Camp of Wolves and Summer’s End – Bear Creek – Castles in Space Lunar Module imprint. Fading seasonal glow, folk-tinged atmospheres cooling into dusk.

Angel Wail – When The Burden Felt Too Heavy. A solitary voice in the weight, A self released single that will be featured on my next compilation Puzzles of the Psyche. A reminder to get your entries in for this before March 25th. This Is classic synth shapings with a sad story.

And closing Side A, one of the longer pieces of the episode at 6:50 Jarguna / Odile Bruckert / Henrik Meierkord close the side with The First Sunrise I Remember – Furrows Of Memory – Projekt Records. Memory etched in gentle field recordings and strings, the first light recalled across years.

Side B.

Hipwell opens with Too Much – Too Much. Available through Island House Recordings. This is Direct, unadorned, a title that says everything and nothing more.

Hipnotic Earth brings Snow Begins To Fall – Islas Calm Cloud – Whitelabrecs. Winter settling in slow layers, calm cloud islands drifting.

OdNu, Mi Cosa de Resistance and mRn with En el Viento – Southern Lands – Southern Lands. On another show sponsoring label Audiobulb. Wind-carried voices and tones, Argentinas southern latitudes whispering through the mix.

Das Kinn – Nichts – Bureau B 2025 – Bureau B. Another from the Bureau B harvest, negation turned into sound, sparse and deliberate.

Clearways offers Mirage – Latrality. Illusions held in place by careful electronics, edges that shimmer and refuse to solidify.

Serbian artist nedogled with Toplina – Upavi Snovi. Warmth in dream states, tones that wrap rather than strike.

Autistici – 2.25 Degrees of Internalisation – Familiarity Unfolded. Another one out on Audiobulb. Internal shifts measured in fractions, unfolding slow and precise.

London based, Time Attendant brings Lapping Up Flames – The Feral Mould. Flames consumed in reverse, feral shapes moulded into something almost gentle. An odd one this, avant garde in places.

Lorna Dune with Perseids – Sequential Dreaming. Another great release from Mystery Circles. Meteor trails across dreaming sequences, streaking light in the dark.

And now, as the tape hisses toward silence, a few words before we disappear again. Thanks for staying with it. These shows aren’t built for crowds, and neither, perhaps, are you. Support the artists where you can—buy the tapes, the downloads, the vinyl when it appears. Whisper their names into whatever void listens. It matters more than metrics suggest.
This episode streams free on Mixcloud for a week, full links and credits at trevor.se and in the comments. Leave a word if something landed. Or don’t. Quiet has its own frequency.
Until the wind shifts or the reel ends—whichever arrives first—stay resonant, stay expansive, let the universe keep its own counsel.
Antwerp based autumna closes the show with sea flames – Murmurs In The Mist – Trevlad. Flames on water, murmurs rising through fog, a final dissolution.
Don’t miss out on my next compilation. Details on my Bandcamp page.
That was Trev’s Virtual Cassette Library, episode one hundred and seventy-four. Good night.

Trev’s Virtual Cassette Library 160

28 December 2025

///applied.crawled.wires

Virtual 90 minute mixtapes for the sonically adventurous. 30 artists, two 45 minute sets. A spoken intro followed by music only show. Drops about three times a week. No schedule, just a passion for independent music.

Hello, I’m Trevor, and this is episode one‑sixty of the Virtual Cassette Library. Today’s theme is Applied Crawled Wires—which, as usual, is both the track you’re hearing underneath and a location you can find on a map, if you’re the sort who enjoys chasing coordinates on What3Words.
We’ve got ninety minutes ahead—two sides, fifteen tracks each. Some names you’ll know, some you won’t, and that’s half the fun. A couple of treats in this one too: the Andy Maurer and Clariloops pieces are exclusives from the upcoming Whitelabrecs release Sleep Laboratory 6.0, and The Home Current track is taken from the forthcoming Subexotic Records album A Point Blank Dream. Always nice to have something you can’t hear anywhere else—yet.
Now then, starting back on episode 156, there’s a little cipher game running through the series. Each episode, during the intermission, you’ll hear a number. Scribble it down. After ten episodes, you’ll have the full sequence. Put the pieces together, crack the cipher, and you’ll unlock a code that knocks ninety‑five percent off anything on my Bandcamp page. Which means you can scoop up the whole discography for about two quid. It’s not meant to be difficult—just enough to keep you awake at night wondering if you’ll get it right.
The rest of the show drifts through ambient corners, modular murmurs, soft‑focus electronics, and the occasional unexpected detour. The sort of thing you might stumble across late at night on a shortwave dial, wondering if you imagined it.
So—headphones on, let time dissolve, and let the music claim you.”

Intro – 00:00
Grocer Cat – i sit on the porch and savor fresh coffee – 02:16

///jotting.hero.mystery.

Welcome to Trevor’s Virtual Cassette Library episode 106 Jotting Hero Mystery. Which is not only the soundtrack in the background but a geographical location according to What3words with its own video. Pre order the album on Bandcamp to support the channel, it gets released when it reaches the Mixcloud subscriber count which is currently 16. Of course if you do subscribe there’ll not only be an extra track but you’ll also get all my albums for the monthly subscription price of 3 dollars. These episodes are 90-minute musical journeys. This episode is a spectral drift through modular hauntology, Sardinian piano reveries, and aquatic synth rituals. woven together into two, uninterrupted, 45 minute virtual cassette sides, with a metaphysical flip halfway through. A lovingly warped mixtape for dusk listeners, headphone wanderers, and those who find comfort in the crackle of forgotten formats. The shows are designed for a walk, a mental wander, or a quiet moment alone with the universe.

I won’t be commenting between the tracks. You can join Nanogods’ poetic visualizations on the time line. Don’t be shy.

If you want to be part of future transmissions? Send your art to: trevlad@gmail.com Purchase paths are always illuminated at trevor.se and marked in each episode.

Now, Prepare for immersion. Secure those headphones. Let time dissolve, and let the frequencies claim you. 🚀✨

Neptune Sky.

Welcome to Trevor’s Virtual Cassette Library episode 102 A 90-minute journey with a metaphysical flip at the halfway mark—perfect for a long walk, a mental wander, or a quiet moment alone with the universe. Today’s flight is partially sponsored by these generous labels: Astra Solaria Recordings, Castles In Space, ARCHIVES, Error Prone Records, Moniker Eggplant, Sonor Music Editions, Bricolage, rohs! records, Mystery Circles,

As well as these artists who have sent me material: Augen, The Green Kingdom, Phil Dodds from Allmanna Town.

Much love to my Co-Host the poet, the Psychonaut, Nanogod, for his visualisations of what’s going on during the episodes.

Special thanks to Free Album Codes—always fueling the episodes with Bandcamp gems. 🙏

Also shout outs to, aeon_music, and Ottervision, for the follows, likes and comments.

At least two of the tracks contain the Bucla Music Easel.

The A side contains “On The Waves Of Neptune” an exclusive from the album “Where Trees Go To Die” the latest offering from Stone Anthem, a hallucinatory journey through ambient textures, dense organic drones, and otherworldly frequencies. Layering field recordings, modular synthesis, and hushed vocals, the album was created in an attempt to maximise immersion and create a sonic field of bliss, a slow-evolving soundscape where perception bends and time dissolves. The album’s initial blueprint was created in a quiet hamlet in the Spanish mountains in 2023 with very little equipment. So the scenery of forests and mountains were a great influence on the album’s development. This is also from where all of the field recordings on the album were sourced.

Castles in Space is delighted to be working with this charismatic, vibrant and super-talented young artist. He’s just turned 18.

The B side contains an exclusive by colab who I know nothing about and I don’t believe are the Georgian Hard techno outfit. The track here, Troubled appears on the Bricolage labels 27 track compilation album X celebrating their 10th year of magical releases. It’s a ‘who’s who’ of the label past, present and future. Do check it out. Links to everything played are in the show notes and in the comments.

Otherwise Check out HDRFs musical journey on Invisible Waves – The Stories.
