Trev’s Virtual Cassette Library 341

Make it Forever.

Another reel of the Virtual Cassette Library begins. Twelve tracks, two sides. A virtual cassette that turns itself at the halfway mark, the oxide catching just long enough to mark the seam before the second side continues.
These are not playlists. Each episode is structured as a pair of continuous sets: six tracks on each side, mixed and stitched so the joins sit almost inside the grain. The sequence is the form.
If you make music, run a label, or hold a private archive of material that has not yet found a place, send links or Bandcamp codes to trevlad@gmail.com. Every submission is heard.
The episodes remain free for the first week. After that they move into the Mixcloud subscriber archive. Subscribers also receive Veil Frequencies, the ongoing series of three-hour transmissions—extended traversals rather than selections, moving through a curtain of sound that occasionally seems to register the listener in return.
Mind the flip.

A sweep beneath the trees, then a nowhere that sometimes falls from the sky.
Side A softens the broom so the trees can listen, warms a Redford in sheepskin already filed in the library archive, perfects the spelling of a church of gadzooks over a wistful abyss, decides the duration forever with the tenderness already in place, colours the black mud with rainbow noise that is already kind, and hangs the pictures so the calm after the storm can arrive. Side B drops placid under red stars, shares southern lands with the three already south, keeps a secret jungle private with the rivers already quiet, lets go of something with the place already named in the letting, speaks the magical combination of words so everything is ok forever, and receives a nowhere that falls from a generous sky.
Overall mood: Tender, and quietly decided — full of soft brooms, open archives, and words that settle everything. Perfect for dusk listening, quiet rivers, or sitting still while the next spool still waits.

Side A

Trev’s Virtual Cassette Library 329

Fascinate

Hello there, listeners. It’s me. Trevor.

You’ve pressed play on another Virtual Cassette Library. Twelve tracks. Two sides. A little plastic ghost that flips itself at the halfway mark, like a polite pancake.

If you make music, or you run a label, or you simply own a shed full of strange noises and would like them filed somewhere warm, send your links or Bandcamp codes to trevlad@gmail.com. I read every one. Promise. I read them with both eyes and, on special occasions, a third one.

The shows stay free for the first week, wandering about with their shoelaces undone. After that they slip quietly into the hands of my Mixcloud subscribers, who currently have over eleven hundred other episodes waiting for them whenever the mood strikes, which in my experience is usually Tuesdays, or during eclipses, or when the kettle boils. Subscribers also receive the expanding series of three-hour adventures titled Veil Frequencies, which is less a mixtape and more a long walk through a curtain that may be sentient.

Now. Each of these episodes is a two-part outing, just like the classic cassette. Unlike mixtapes or playlists, these two sides are curated as proper DJ sets, six tracks segued into one continuous mix, stitched together so carefully you can barely see the thread. Unless you look.

I hope you enjoy the adventure. Mind the flip.

A cruise along a signposted road, then a heart lit in a place still waiting for its name.
Side A follows the signs with the construct still standing and happy to drive, keeps the face continuous from one frame to the next, files a polite plea under the smear-test disasters, numbers the first fluid from dust to dawn, lets the shade learn a lyric behind a half-drawn curtain, and fascinates with the fungus that holds the wood together. Side B glows umber between brown and light, posts a New Penzance Island from the film, keeps the last note of a reef in its feathers, chirps a zither small enough for a beak, leans into petrol and jasmine on the same camber, and leaves the light on in a town the map has yet to label.
Overall mood: Slightly luminous, and quietly named — full of half-drawn curtains, open lanes, and places still waiting for their labels. Perfect for dusk drives, roads that know the way, or sitting still while the next spool still waits.

Side A
Mood mist: a cruise along a signposted road, a mask that keeps the face continuous, a helpdesk in the comments, a fluid numbered one, shade singing its own name, wildlife that has decided to fascinate.

00:00:00 BUNKR – Cruisen
https://bunkr-music.bandcamp.com/track/cruisen
Album: Signs. Label: VLSI Records
Signs pointing the way, VLSI keeping the lane. The construct still standing, for now, and happy to drive.
00:07:29 survey channel – Mask of Continuity
https://surveychannel.bandcamp.com/track/mask-of-continuity

The large rooms where the face stays the same from one frame to the next. The survey already under way.
00:12:25 Daily Mail Comments Section – Hello? Can You Help Me, Please?
https://enofa.bandcamp.com/track/hello-can-you-help-me-please
Album: Now That’s What I Call Smear Test.
Enofa filing the plea under volume one of the polite disasters.
00:14:27 TRAINDEER – Płyn I
https://traindeer.bandcamp.com/track/p-yn-i

Fluid, the first of them. From dust to dawn, the deer already on the track.
00:16:50 Hiram – Tsel
https://matthewhiram.bandcamp.com/track/tsel
Album: Shade Songs.
The shadow learning a lyric. Matthew Hiram leaving the curtain half-drawn on purpose.
00:19:28 Polypores – Fascinate
https://auralcanyonmusic.bandcamp.com/track/fascinate
Album: Wildlife. Label: Aural Canyon
The fungus that holds the wood together, and the title of the hour. Look closely. The thread is there.

Side B
Mood mist: an umber that has learned to glow, an island named after a film, a last song from a reef, a zither chirping under the canopy, petrol and jasmine sharing a camber, a heart lit in a place still waiting for its name.

00:25:08 Ocean Moon & Silver Ley – Glowing Umber
(Exclusive track)
Album: Prismatic Fields. Label: Open Universe
https://oceanmoon.bandcamp.com/album/prismatic-fields
The colour between brown and light, happy to be both.
00:27:43 Mensa Group International – New Penzance Island
https://ailanthusrecordings.bandcamp.com/track/new-penzance-island
Album: Split LP. Label: Ailanthus Recordings
The tree of heaven. The island from the film, now with its own postcode.
00:29:02 Coda Nautica – Swan Song
https://neotantra.bandcamp.com/track/swan-song
Album: Intricate Harmonics 2. Label: Neotantra
Neotantra letting the last note keep its feathers.
00:36:01 Beymer – Tsitern (Chirp)
https://imaginarynorth.bandcamp.com/track/tsitern-chirp

A zither small enough to fit in a beak, and still in tune.
00:37:54 Aidan Baker – Petrol / Jasmine
https://aidanbaker.bandcamp.com/track/petrol-jasmin
Album: Adverse Camber. Label: Broken Spine Productions
The bend that asks you to lean. Broken Spine keeping both scents in the same bottle.
00:43:23 Absence – Glowing Heart
https://imaginarynorth.bandcamp.com/track/glowing-heart
Album: Names of Unknown Places. Label: Imaginary North
The light still on in a town the map has yet to label.

Trev’s Virtual Cassette Library 308

LISTEN HERE

Good day, listeners… or should I say, travellers of the tape.
Trevor here. You’ve pressed play on another Virtual Cassette Library. Twelve-track virtual cassettes that flips themselves at the halfway mark.

If you make music, or run a label, and fancy a place in the library, send your links or Bandcamp codes to trevlad@gmail.com. I read every one. Promise.
Tips and subscriptions keep the reels turning. Every little helps the library stay open after dark.

A between-worlds ambient journey through vanished lanes, quiet trees, and maps that keep leaving the paper.
Side A walks you home along a Lincolnshire lane that no longer exists, docks in a corridor of light, holds its breath beneath Yiddish trees, answers every name water has ever been given, climbs an Atlas ascent through drowned architecture, and posts a wet summer postcard from Koblenz. Side B decides the right thing is just to leave, sits at a hummingbird campfire, hums the normal order of things after midnight, names an uncatalogued creature, paints the moon with earthshine, and ends on an atlas of shifting clouds.
Overall mood: Melancholic, luminous, and quietly migratory — full of Passed Oceans, analog weight, and weather with no name in the rear-view. Perfect for late listening, leaving rooms gently, or sitting still while the tide rearranges the map.

The shows remain free for the first week, then slip quietly into the hands of my Mixcloud subscribers, who currently have over eleven hundred other episodes waiting for them whenever the mood strikes. Subscribers receive the expanding series of 3-hour adventures titled Veil Frequencies. They also get the ever-growing advance version of the forthcoming compilation Quiet Figures.

The tape unspools its visions.

A French satellite parked in a corridor of light where only love is permitted to dock. You are invited to step out of the airlock and into the quiet rooms you keep behind your own ribs.

https://philippedeschampsfilms.bandcamp.com/track/atlas-of-shifting-clouds
From the album “Maps of an Invisible World”.

Good day, listeners… or should I say, travellers of the tape.
Trevor here. You’ve pressed play on another fragile spool of the Virtual Cassette Library.

A coastal, living-system ambient journey through sea-stares, underwater spheres, and second natures.
Side A watches the sea from Sausage Studios, then drifts across unnamed water, residual cellar vectors, tape-warm circles, dancing offertorio light, and one-take Maenporth fall. Side B opens a hidden kantele harmony, mixes smoke and sound in real time, breathes under Yiddish trees, sits with an oracle, walks Sanibel’s helix, and comes back to the world.
Overall mood: Gentle, organic, and quietly luminous — full of water, weather, and small living systems. Perfect for morning listening, nature walks, or sitting still while things fall out of the sky.
