Trev’s Virtual Cassette Library 289

www.mixcloud.com/djsofabed/tvcl-289/

Good day, listeners… or should I say, travellers of the tape.
Trevor here. You’ve pressed play on another fragile spool of the Virtual Cassette Library. Twelve-track virtual cassettes that flips themselves at the halfway mark.

If you make music, or run a label, and fancy a place in the library, send your links or Bandcamp codes to trevlad@gmail.com. I read every one. Promise.
Tips and subscriptions keep the reels turning. Every little helps the library stay open after dark.
A warm, slightly hauntological ambient journey through memory pools, lost-and-found melodies, and parallel realities.
Side A gathers shared sonic connections, 1974 household radiophonics, midnight Frankfurt tones, recovered places, Lancashire ease, and ballad-inspired ambient forms. Side B drifts through emotional anchors, nostalgic Japanese colour, Quiet Figures still gathering, serpents in daylight, elemental wooded harmony, and ends walking the fictional lanes of Belbury.
Overall mood: Contemplative, nostalgic, and gently communal — full of recovered light, quiet personal colour, and soft village atmosphere. Perfect for deep listening, late evenings, or sitting with the ordinary as it quietly transforms.
The shows remain free for the first week, then slip quietly into the hands of my Mixcloud subscribers, who currently have over eleven hundred other episodes waiting for them whenever the mood strikes. Subscribers receive the expanding series of 3-hour adventures titled Veil Frequencies. They also get the ever-growing advance version of the forthcoming compilation Quiet Figures.

The tape unspools its visions.

Side A moves from first light and summer flames into quantum bindings, center-finding, and dated reflections. Side B shifts through cold textures, controlled growth, bubble fragility, speaking pebbles, and small waves.
Overall mood: Serene, contemplative, and quietly wondrous with a strong connection to nature and emotion. Perfect for deep relaxation, morning listening, or peaceful reflection.
I’ve gone back to doing more podcast style episodes but I’ll do all the talking now in the intro as I’ve put a lot of love into making seamless segued mixes. There is just one break halfway through the episode to give the “virtual cassette” title a meaning. The shows are free for the first week and then go to my very few subscribers who get to enjoy the 259 episodes plus the 821 other shows whenever they like all for the price of… I actually don’t know what you can buy for 3 quid. It used to be a coffee.
This episode is based on the wonderful modular bubblings in “Bound by Weak Interaction” by Glasgow based music maker Fraser Rowan aka “Ty Lumnus” from the release “Resonances in the Hidden Field” and that’s out on Astral Discs.
On this episode you’ll be aurally pleasured, once again, by Adam Filip and the Future Sound of London vibe, pre-Christian Slavic ritualistic track “Summer Flame” from his release “The Returning Circle” and that’s out on the every present Cyclical Dreams label.
Stoke On Trents own Phil Heeks is back with his unmistakeable retro sci-fi adventures as The British Stereo Collective in “Bloodrush” from his latest release “ProtoSynthesis”.
Then the shortest piece for today comes from a rework of a Raúl Cantizano & David Cordero piece by Japanese artist, Haruhisa Tanaka with “Mi centro vine a encontrar” ‘I came to find my center.’ From the album ‘Even if the morning comes’. Aunque llegue la mañana · Refracted.
Ending the A side is composer and founder of Hylé Tapes, Richard Francés with some nice intimate sound diary with deep bass drones in the track “14 Octobre 2023 II” from the album “Afterwork II (Octobre 2023)”
Starting off Side B with some distorted drone blisters is the second choice from the Connection: sculpting silence compilation on Richard Francés Hylé Tapes label. This one from Berlin based, French artist, kritzkom titled “Texture of Cold”.
St. Cloud, Florida based Olio Flux brightens the view in “It’s All About Control (Instrumental)” from the NYP release “Selected Frequencies”.
Channel friend, Estonian artist, Paul Beaudoin soothes us with the micro sounds of “10th Cultivation” from his album “spores.dat” out on Audiobulb.
The third choice from the Connection: sculpting silence compilation comes in the form of cassette bliss “Shabondama” by Japans own Hiro Nakamura, aka, Tokyo Bedroom Orchestra
Then the penultimate piece for today comes in the form of the french ambient composer and improviser Tom Leclerc and a rather hopeful piece “the pebbles speak” the final choice from the Connection: sculpting silence compilation.
Finishing us off is the ever drifting wash of ´small waves’ Petites vagues from French Canadian artist Mathieu Lamontagne aka Arbee from his latest from the Chitra Records sub label Ambient Cat, Titled En vain.
But first, to set the vibe is modular sound artist, Milan based, Francesca Pavesi aka IDRA and the piece “First Light” from the compilation album that’s dominated this episode “Connection: sculpting silence” from the latest channel supporting label “Hylé Tapes”. Go check them out.
So settle in, turn it up a bit, and let’s see where it takes us. I hope you enjoy it.
One side flip, just the music.

Trev’s Virtual Cassette Library 255

Good day listeners, wherever you are. Trevor here.
Welcome to the Virtual Cassette Library. Episode 255. A 12 track virtual tape with a metaphysical flip at the half way mark.
If you make music, or are a label, and would like to be featured, send your file links or Bandcamp codes to trevlad@gmail.com. I’d love to hear what you’re working on.
Please leave a tip and subscribe to the Mixcloud channel every little helps.
A gentle, nature-infused, and introspective ambient journey through seasons, plants, and storytelling.
Side A flows from sunny rain and clear ambiguity into fleeting glimpses, resigned beauty, and rhythmic patterns. Side B gathers around campfires, buoys, synesthetic storms, momentary drifts, and golden mystical pillars.
Overall mood: Warm, contemplative, and quietly wondrous with a strong connection to nature and emotion. Perfect for deep relaxation, morning listening, or peaceful reflection.
Episode 255 is based on the track “Buoy.” by “Willebrant” from the release “Selected Works – Slowed and Reverb, Volume 2”. Which Australian artist Karl Willebrant sent me a couple of days back. The track is over 13 minutes long so it should be on an episode of Expansive Waves which is my long form music show. For the moment that’s on hold as I don’t have the will to do one. Mainly from lack of time but also from having to pay for the shows myself as I’m still, after years of trying, missing 2 subscribers from the channel in order to get a payout from Mixcloud. It’s super frustrating dangling on that edge for so long.
Anyway a massive shout out to Richard Francés of Hylé Tapes for sending me their catalogue of wonderful releases. You’ll be hearing lots from Hylé Tapes in the near future.
In other news, Substak has entered a track for my next compilation release “Quiet Figures”. Get your entry in before September 24th and join him and The Earl of Dean. Details on the Bandcamp page.
Now back to this episode which features Dutch artist Art Bit and Columbian artist Bålsam both with releases on the Dronarium label.
Japanese artist Tomotsugu Nakamura together with Spanish artists David Cordero have one out via Home Normal records.
Another play by Washington DC based Dionisaf from his release on the Ambient Cat label.
Maps and Diagrams has a release on Sardinian label Lontano Series the sub label of Rohs! records.
Brussels based Jonathan Poliart gets another play from his release as well as Paris based Simon Cacheux both out on Adventurous Music.
The wonderful Mahorka label features, as usual, with a piece by Auto-nomaton.
Also the fantastic collaboration of zakè, Ossa, ASC with a release on zakés own Bandcamp page.
Ending the episode is Danish artist øjeRum with a release on Lithuanian label Amulet of Tears who has also supported the channel with loads of releases.
But first out to start the ball rolling Toronto based artist Chad Skinner also known as Sun Rain with his track May from the Imaginary North release Lake Effect: Quiet Music From Toronto.
