You’ve pressed play on another Virtual Cassette Library. Twelve tracks. Two sides. A little plastic ghost that flips itself at the halfway mark, like a polite pancake.
If you make music, or you run a label, or you simply own a shed full of strange noises and would like them filed somewhere warm, send your links or Bandcamp codes to trevlad@gmail.com. I read every one. Promise. I read them with both eyes and, on special occasions, a third one.
The shows stay free for the first week, wandering about with their shoelaces undone. After that they slip quietly into the hands of my Mixcloud subscribers, who currently have over eleven hundred other episodes waiting for them whenever the mood strikes, which in my experience is usually Tuesdays, or during eclipses, or when the kettle boils. Subscribers also receive the expanding series of three-hour adventures titled Veil Frequencies, which is less a mixtape and more a long walk through a curtain that may be sentient.
Now. Each of these episodes is a two-part outing, just like the classic cassette. Unlike mixtapes or playlists, these two sides are curated as proper DJ sets, six tracks segued into one continuous mix, stitched together so carefully you can barely see the thread. Unless you look.
I hope you enjoy the adventure. Mind the flip.
A water lily at a threshold, then a seven that has already shifted south. Side A opens the door on a nymphaea before the official date, shares fear, rage and love in under a minute, walks the warm marble of a city still standing in the name, lets the wind keep both hands in its pockets and still carry you, files roots under a clause, and blushes a 1970 library record with the flute still warm. Side B marries a rope to itself, lets undesignated buildings prefer to meet, studies a field still learning the season, treats the tuning as the piece, lets the night accept the fire, and turns seven toward the warmer wall. Overall mood: Contemplative, slightly tender, and quietly architectural — full of thresholds, pencil blueprints, and gardens that leave the gate open. Perfect for dusk listening, fields still learning the season, or sitting still while the next spool still waits.
Mood mist: a water lily at a threshold, three feelings in under a minute, a city of marble still standing in the name, a wind that kept us, roots under a clause, a library record blushing in 1970.

This has been The Virtual Cassette Library, episode 323. Travel safely between the frequencies. I’ll meet you on the other side of the next spool.
Good day listeners, wherever you are. Trevor here. Welcome to the Virtual Cassette Library. Episode 267. A 12 track virtual tape with a metaphysical flip at the half way mark. If you make music, or are a label, and would like to be featured, send your file links or Bandcamp codes to trevlad@gmail.com. I’d love to hear what you’re working on. Please leave a tip and subscribe to the Mixcloud channel every little helps. A stylish, cinematic journey through hauntology, Italian library grooves, cosmic jazz, and dusty intrigue. Side A offers ceremonial nostalgia, Arabian adventure, 1970s modernism, and space-age elegance. Side B shifts into psychedelic funk, flowing calm, low-orbit jazz, conspiratorial dust, fiery intensity, and extraction drama. Overall mood: Retro-cinematic, groovy, and atmospheric — blending playful sophistication with subtle mystery. Perfect for golden-hour listening, stylish drives, or immersive evening sessions. I’ll introduce Side A now and Side B in the intermission. The shows are free for the first week and then go to my very few Mixcloud subscribers who get to enjoy the 1 091 other shows whenever they like. As a subscriber you also get access to my new series Veil Frequencies based on a fictional world I’ve created called The Resonant Veil Enclave. Each episode is around three hours and recorded from one of the floors of the 24 buildings in the veil. You can read about it on my Substack page. Mixcloud subscribers also get the ever expanding version of the upcoming compilation titled Quiet Figures. If I mention the labels Four Flies Records, ATA Records, Batov Records, Buried Treasure or Sonor Music Editions you’ll instantly get the vibe for this episode. A cinematic journey through hauntology, Italian library grooves, cosmic jazz, and dusty intrigue. On this TVCL episode you’ll be aurally pleasured by the hypnotic sequencing of Italian artist Giuliano Sorgini, in the track “Arabian Safari” from the 7” single titled “Savana Selvaggia” available through Four Flies Records. Followed by friends of the show and one of my all time favourite outfits “The Twelve Hour Foundation” and the super recognisable retro moog sounds of their track “Roissy 1977” which is taken from the final Undulating Waters compilation, and Woodford Halses 100th release. Get it. Then Sarnia, Ontario based “EKT” with a groovy synth outing in the piece “Pioneer Plaque” from a 32 track album called “Pura Vida” A fascinating release where almost all the tracks have super psychedelic videos. The album is also free to anyone who sends a screenshot or photo proof of them deleting Spotify and/or any social media app. The penultimate track of the first side of the virtual cassette is by Eric Wetherell and the theme from the 1975 HTV series “Sky”. The shortest track of the episode at just 47 seconds. Suggestive and eerie. From the well sold out Album “Sky” on the Buried Treasure label. Finishing off the first half, we go one year earlier with a track by Milan based Barigozzi Group and a bouncing library jazz track complete with cowbell from 1974 titled “Violet Lips” from the album Woman’s Colours where all the track names are a specific colour combined with a different part of the body. But first, to set the vibe is the outstanding Jim Jupp aka Belbury Poly and the psychedelic organ infused track “Scarlet Ceremony” from his album “The Owl’s Map” which was originally released back in 2006 on the Ghost Box label. Now settle in, turn it up a bit, and let’s see where it takes us. I hope you enjoy it. One side flip, just the music.
Welcome sonic travellers to the B side. Six tracks down and six to go. You’ll hear Lee Spreadbury better known as Gurulee and his wonderfully nostalgic prog-fusion jazz waltz infected track “Flo” from the EP “Into the Light” which is recorded at ATA Studios. Followed by a group of artists that have probably sneaked their way into this episode in a few ways. Here is Leeds based, Outer Worlds Jazz Ensemble, with the downtempo, sexy, flute injected, library piece titled “Low Orbit” from the album “The Kármán Line” which is out on ATA Records. After that Nitzan Dana also known as Islands On Tape with a downtempo, hypnotic, cinematic and rimshot heavy piece “Dust Conspiracy” from the EP of the same name. Dropping October 16th on Batov Records. Then the penultimate track for today comes in the form of the psychedelic jazz-funk grooves of Italys Atabasca and the track “Hell Dorado”. Grab one of the last vinyls of the self titled album on Killer Grooves Records. Finishing us off is the label that is also a band, Leeds based, “ATA Records” with a party lifter complete with handclaps and bongos in the track, “The Galata Extraction” from the must have album “The Library Archive Vol. 4” But first, Miles Newbold who, I believe is the entire ensemble of The Natural Yogurt Band, with the busy, neo-library, psychedelic track titled “On The Other Side”. Get a vinyl copy of the album “Parasol” from Sonor Music Editions. Enjoy…

Virtual 90 minute mixtapes for the sonically adventurous. 30 artists, two 45 minute sets. A spoken intro followed by music only show. Drops about three times a week. No schedule, just a passion for independent music.
“Hello, I’m Trevor, and this is episode one‑six‑one of the Virtual Cassette Library—which also happens to be my 900th mix show. I’m not entirely sure how that happened, but here we are. Today’s theme is Obey Beams Starting—which, as usual, is both the track you’re hearing underneath and a location you can find on a map, if you’re the sort who enjoys chasing coordinates on What3Words. We’ve got ninety minutes ahead—two sides, fifteen tracks each. Some names you’ll know, some you won’t, and that’s half the fun. Early on you’ll hear Night Birds by The Inventors of Aircraft—an exclusive from the upcoming Whitelabrecs compilation sleeplaboratory6.0. Always a pleasure to be able to share something before it officially takes flight. Now then, starting back on episode 156, there’s a little cipher game running through the series. Each episode, during the intermission, you’ll hear a number. Scribble it down. After ten episodes, you’ll have the full sequence. Put the pieces together, crack the cipher, and you’ll unlock a code that knocks ninety‑five percent off anything on my Bandcamp page. Which means you can scoop up the whole discography for about two quid. It’s not meant to be difficult—just enough to keep you awake at night wondering if you’ll get it right. The rest of the show wanders through winter light, spectral electronics, Casio memories, kosmische detours, festive oddities, and the occasional unexpected left‑turn. The sort of thing you might stumble across late at night on a shortwave dial, wondering if you imagined it. So—headphones on, let time dissolve, and let the music claim you.”
