Good day listeners, wherever you are. Trevor here. Welcome to episode 202 of the Virtual Cassette Library – music from all over the world, sparked by a single track that sets the tone for the set. This is a 60 minute virtual tape with a metaphysical flip at the half way mark. If and when I get a couple more subscribers then I’ll go back to doing 90 minute versions, complete with commentary. This episode is based on the track “Café Frappé” by Bolbec. Available on the amazing library music inspired album “Foutu Félin”. Released May 8 on the wonderful channel supporting Batov Records. This Mix is a vibrant, retro-flavoured journey through 70s library inspired music, cinematic funk, psychedelic grooves, and dusty Balearic electronics. Side A moves from playful alpine funk and sunny Tahitian exotica into hypnotic desert psych and cruising electronic energy. Side B shifts into raw dusty beats, warped library psychedelia, Ethiopian-jazz tension, and motorik drive before closing on a haunting ambient note. Overall mood: Sunny, groovy, slightly sleazy, and cinematic with strong 70s/80s library nostalgia. Playful yet atmospheric — perfect for warm evenings, road trips, or crate-digging sessions. Energetic in places but never loses its cool, hazy charm. I’ve been getting loads of material during the week so I’ve decided to add this segment called “Shout outs from The Inbox” Which go to Dave Clarkson, Sick Robot, Exit Chamber, Audio Obscura, Stray Wool and Linear North. As well as channel supporting labels Batov Records, Castles in Space, See Blue Audio, Mortality Tables, Clay Pipe Music, Discus Music, whitelabrecs and Synonym Music. Also promotional champions fonodroom and free album codes. This episode contains music from Castle If, HDRF, Mike Dickinson, Piero Umiliani, Pulselovers and many more.
If you make music, or are a label, and would like to be featured, send your file links or Bandcamp codes to trevlad@gmail.com. I’d love to hear what you’re working on. Please, if you can, subscribe — even if it’s just for a month. I put in the work you could buy me the equivalent of 18% of a coffee. As it stands I’m 1 subscriber short of myself or the artists getting anything. So settle in, turn it up a bit, and let’s see where it takes us. I hope you enjoy it. No breaks, just the music.

Hey everyone… Trevor here, welcome. I’ve always wanted to be a café DJ — you know, the kind who reads the room, feels the energy, and lets the music flow with whatever vibe the people bring in that day. Life took me down so many beautiful roads, but this particular dream… well, it’s still waiting to come true. So today, I’m bringing a little piece of that dream right here for you. This is my series of café and lounge-flavoured sounds — smooth, soulful grooves made for chilling, for unwinding, for good conversations and even better silences. Whether you’re sipping coffee, working on your laptop, curled up on the couch, or just needing a moment to breathe… Let these tracks wrap around you like warm sunlight through the café window. You’re listening to Trev’s Virtual Café. Pull up a seat… and let’s chill.
Virtual 90 minute mixtapes for the sonically adventurous. 30 artists, two 45 minute sets. A spoken intro followed by music only show. Drops about three times a week. No schedule, just a passion for independent music.
“Hello, Trevor here, and this is episode one‑six‑three of the Virtual Cassette Library. Today’s theme is Vent Making Diverts—which, as usual, is both the track you’re hearing underneath and a location you can find on a map, if you’re the sort who enjoys chasing coordinates on What3Words. We’ve got ninety minutes ahead—two sides, fifteen tracks each. Some names you’ll know, some you won’t, and that’s half the fun. On the A side there’s an unreleased track by myself which can only be heard here—so if you’re collecting the oddities and outliers, this one’s for you. On the B side, we’ve got an exclusive from Mist Signals—Someday Soon—taken from the upcoming Whitelabrecs compilation Sleeplaboratory6.0, which drops on the 17th of January to celebrate the label’s tenth anniversary. A decade of quiet experiments, soft-focus soundscapes, and late-night headphone magic. Now then, starting back on episode 156, there’s a little cipher game running through the series. Each episode, during the intermission, you’ll hear a number. Scribble it down. After ten episodes, you’ll have the full sequence. Put the pieces together, crack the cipher, and you’ll unlock a code that knocks ninety‑five percent off anything on my Bandcamp page. Which means you can scoop up the whole discography for about two quid. It’s not meant to be difficult—just enough to keep you awake at night wondering if you’ll get it right. The rest of the show drifts through funk, Idm, ambient drift, modular murmurs, rare views, puddles, mythology, and the occasional monkey. The sort of thing you might stumble across late at night on a shortwave dial, wondering if you imagined it. So—headphones on, let time dissolve, and let the music claim you.”

The listener who answered the call for this special episode is Steve Browne. Who suggested John Haughey who this entire mix is based upon. Steve and I both discovered John through the now, sadly defunct, Werra Foxma label, curated by the wonderfully charming Frazer Brown and his better half I believe. John Haughey hails from Craigavon, Northern Ireland and has also released works with one of my favourite labels Waxing Crescent Records. Check them out on Band Camp they are Name Your Price gems. Sponsoring labels: Mahorka, Projekt Records, and, ARCHIVES. Sponsoring artists: Marius Leicht, The Metamorph, and, Krakenkraft.
The rest of the show is filled with recent finds and releases. Shoutouts to passengers: Otis and aeon music..
