For some reason I can no longer embed the shows here
Good day listeners, wherever you are. Trevor here. Welcome to the Virtual Cassette Library. Episode 260. A 12 track virtual tape with a metaphysical flip at the half way mark. If you make music, or are a label, and would like to be featured, send your file links or Bandcamp codes to trevlad@gmail.com. I’d love to hear what you’re working on. Please leave a tip and subscribe to the Mixcloud channel every little helps. A groovy, cinematic, and eclectic journey blending indie folk introspection, global psychedelic funk, French electronic cool, post-rock elegance, and atmospheric psychedelia. Side A cruises through cosmic weight, mechanical playfulness, and sun-drenched grooves. Side B percolates with jazzy structures, vaporous textures, and sleek professionalism before ending on a pointed, trippy note. Overall mood: Stylish, nostalgic, and transportive with a strong retro-cinematic flair—warm, hypnotic, and playfully sophisticated. Perfect for golden-hour drives, late-night listening, or stylish background grooves. I’ve gone back to doing more podcast style episodes but I’ll do all the talking now in the intro as I’ve put a lot of love into making seamless segued mixes. There is just one break halfway through the episode to give the “virtual cassette” title a meaning. The shows are free for the first week and then go to my very few subscribers who get to enjoy the 260 episodes plus the 822 other shows whenever they like all for the price of… I actually don’t know what you can buy for 3 quid. It used to be a coffee. This episode is inspired by the key of G minor and based on the amazing retro synth runs of “A Study In Vapors” by “Bluetech” from a release that’s in my top 5 of the year so far “Petite Constellations”. Every tenth episode I do a best of show. So all these tracks have probably been featured by me over the years and have a special place, for me, in some way. On this episode you’ll be aurally pleasured by Berlin based legends To Rococo Rot with a track simply called “cars”. Originally released on the 1999 album “The Amateur View” which should be in everyone’s collection. Naples based group Psyché grab our hips with “Cumbia Mahàre” from their debut Four Flies Records, self titled, 2023 release. Then a trio that have infected me over the past few years, Khruangbin, here joined by the vocal stylings of Leon Bridges in the track “Chocolate Hills” from their 2022 EP Texas Moon. After that Vincent Taeger aka Tiger Tigre together with, well, himself, in the track “Sport Mécanique” which takes me back to my childhood. My parents watch all sports on tv and this just puts me in that world of 80s sports jingles. It’s taken from the compilation album “ERR REC Library Vol.4 Physical Activity” from 2023. Ending the A side is the Los Angeles, California based roots reggae infected Pachy García aka Pachyman and the track “Sunset Sound” from the album “The Return of…” released in 2021. Starting off Side B with Vienna, Austria based synth maestro Dorian Concept and the track “Eigendynamik (Elevator Version)” from the 2020 album “The Jitters”. Followed by my favourite Stockholm based artist of recent years Joel Danell better known as Sven Wunder. Here with the piece “Pop-Jazz Structures”. Every one of Joels tracks puts me in a happy space. This is from his 2023 album “Late Again”. Then anyone who has followed the channel knows that I love odd time signatures and the track “Percolator” is in 5/8 and is by the one of a kind originals Stereolab. Taken from the 2025 album “Emperor Tomato Ketchup”. This leads into the featured Seattle, Washington based, Evan Bartholomew, better known as, Bluetech track “A Study In Vapors”. Then the penultimate piece for today comes in the form of one of my all time go to artists Air with the track “Les Professionnels” from their debut 1997 EP Premiers Symptômes. Finishing us off is Salvia Plath aka RUN DMT with nostalgic samples over a hypnotic acoustic guitar line in the track “Money” from the 2009 album BONG VOYAGE. But first, to set the vibe is New Zealand based folk tinged artist whose voice just grips me Aldous Harding with the song “Weight of the Planets” from her fantastic third album “Designer” from 2019. Labels to be mentioned are 4AD UK, City Slang, Four Flies Records, Dead Oceans, ERR REC, ATO, Brainfeeder, Piano Piano Records, Warp Records, Behind The Sky Music, DiN and Virgin Records. Special thanks to Free Album Codes—always fueling the episodes with Bandcamp gems. 🙏
Also shout outs to, aeon_music, and Ottervision, for the follows, likes and comments.
At least two of the tracks contain the Bucla Music Easel.
The A side contains “On The Waves Of Neptune” an exclusive from the album “Where Trees Go To Die” the latest offering from Stone Anthem, a hallucinatory journey through ambient textures, dense organic drones, and otherworldly frequencies. Layering field recordings, modular synthesis, and hushed vocals, the album was created in an attempt to maximise immersion and create a sonic field of bliss, a slow-evolving soundscape where perception bends and time dissolves. The album’s initial blueprint was created in a quiet hamlet in the Spanish mountains in 2023 with very little equipment. So the scenery of forests and mountains were a great influence on the album’s development. This is also from where all of the field recordings on the album were sourced.
Castles in Space is delighted to be working with this charismatic, vibrant and super-talented young artist. He’s just turned 18.
The B side contains an exclusive by colab who I know nothing about and I don’t believe are the Georgian Hard techno outfit. The track here, Troubled appears on the Bricolage labels 27 track compilation album X celebrating their 10th year of magical releases. It’s a ‘who’s who’ of the label past, present and future. Do check it out. Links to everything played are in the show notes and in the comments.
I won’t be commenting between the tracks. You can join nanogods poetic visualisations on the time line. Don’t be shy.
Do you want to be part of future transmissions? Send your art to: trevlad@gmail.com Purchase paths are always illuminated at trevor.se and marked at the top of each episode.
Now, Prepare for immersion. Secure those headphones. Let time dissolve, and let the frequencies claim you. 🚀✨

It’s a farewell—but not a quiet one. Vocals from Morgan, Tommy, Fernanda González, Juan Cordova, and Juan Pablo Ortíz rise like mist from the undergrowth, weaving through classical guitar and delicate electronics. Born in the mist forests of Valle de Bravo, Mexico, this track mourns the loss of fireflies, birds, crickets, and the endangered Abronias—small, dragon-like reptiles now on the red list. But it also carries hope. A call to listen. A call to act. The full album releases July 18, 2025. This one’s for the dragons. 🔁 Virtual B-Side Exclusive: “^We Dance” by vx/hope 🎧 From the upcoming album the hungry will always choose a full belly over a full mind 🕯️ Sponsored by Woodford Halse’s sister label, Preston Capes Neil Whitehead and Pete Hope return with a track that misleads with its title—offering not celebration, but confrontation. Gravel-voiced poetry over pummeling beats and abstract textures. Dance music for the disenchanted. The full album drops August 1, 2026. “^We Dance” appears only in the digital edition—slightly extended and fully unhinged. 🎶 Also featuring: Backpullver, Shamanez, gribbles, Trevlad, Tim Six, Flux Of Sensations, John Scott Shepherd, Jamie Zarfas, Bartosz Dziadosz, The Flashbulb, Sandro Brugnolini, eardrops, Tim Koch, Waldgrenze, Chaircrusher, Fred Thomas, Philippe Neau, LR Friberg, Christian Kleine, Wavefiler, x.y.r., Suncastle, and no1uknw. I won’t be commenting between the tracks. You can do that on the timeline. Don’t be shy.
