Good day listeners, wherever you are. Trevor here. Welcome to the Virtual Cassette Library. Episode 261. A 12 track virtual tape with a metaphysical flip at the half way mark. If you make music, or are a label, and would like to be featured, send your file links or Bandcamp codes to trevlad@gmail.com. I’d love to hear what you’re working on. Please leave a tip and subscribe to the Mixcloud channel every little helps. A dreamy, exploratory, and atmospheric ambient journey blending mystical electronics, Nordic cool, quirky whimsy, and celestial inheritance. Side A drifts from dazed rhythms and time windows into telos purpose, cool air nostalgia, and rosewood calm. Side B flows through adventures, flugelhorn playfulness, inherited starlight, hypothetical colours, and snowy crossings. Overall mood: Contemplative, whimsical, and wondrous with a blend of warmth, mystery, and quiet beauty. Perfect for deep listening, nature connection, or late-night immersion. I’ve gone back to doing more podcast style episodes but I’ll do all the talking now in the intro as I’ve put a lot of love into making seamless segued mixes. There is just one break halfway through the episode to give the “virtual cassette” title a meaning. The shows are free for the first week and then go to my very few subscribers who get to enjoy the 261 episodes plus the 823 other shows whenever they like all for the price of… I actually don’t know what you can buy for 3 quid. It used to be a coffee. This episode is inspired by the key of A# or Bb minor and based on the retro library charm of the track “Cool Air” by UK artist Jim Jupp under his “Belbury Poly” alias from the 4 track EP “Farmer’s Angle”. Also on this episode you’ll be aurally pleasured by an artists I know little about except that they’ve worked with my sister of the airwaves Kate Bosworth and have released most of their work on the wonderful Adventurous Music label this track titled “Das Zeitfenster” (the time window ) is from not so much an album but a book by Corina Retzlaff with artwork by Francis Théberge titled “Die Verschiebung der Zeit” (The shifting of time). Then friend of us all Gavin Brick, aka, The Metamorph gives us his sparkling track “Telos” from his latest masterpiece album “From Cobalt to Aquamarine”. Followed by the episode inspired Belbury Poly piece “Cool Air”. After that, keeping it in the region with Frazer Brown and Alasdair O’May aka Dohnavùr with their track “Predicaments” from the collaboration album “Dohnavùr//Kl(aüs)” out on Castles in Space. Ending the A side is the rather worldly piece titled “Rosewood and Olive” by Jeff Gburek + Eryk Nowacki from the album “Small Fires” out on the Mahorka label. A superb release. Starting off Side B in Berlin school style with Leeds based Tim Stebbing and the track “The Adventure” taken from the “CYCLICAL MAGAZINE 21” EP out on my wonderful friends at Cyclical Dreams. Followed by a character that’s very active on the scene Michael Evill aka Shambolic and here as The Music Liberation Front Sweden with the wonderfully hopeful track titled “Anyone Can Play The Flugelhorn Outside My Window” from his “Lost Hope Society” album released on Subexotic Records. Then a piece by myself titled “Visit Impressing Backup” which is where the cover art for this piece is. Created by my friend Ylva Magnusson. It’s from the album “”TVCL 10”. After that Daniel Avramescu together with Feast of Starlight. A mysterious cloud hovers over all the artists that appear on the label The Dream Journal Institute. All of which seem to be fictional (correct me if I’m wrong) this piece is titled “The Inheritor” and is from the release “The Cosmic Mystery Play” Then the penultimate piece for today comes in the form of a Castles in Space sister label Lunar Module release from Phexioenesystems and their stunning floating piece titled “Hypothetical Colours” from the album “Patterns in Condensate” Finishing us off is an artist that is the wonderful Portsmouth finest, Mr. Simon Heartfield and the uplifting track “Across The Snow” from his release “Stella Rossa”. But first, to set the vibe is Faroese-Icelandic Ólafur Arnalds and Janus Rasmussen collectively known as Kiasmos and the piano injected Idm track “Dazed” from their album “II” out on Erased Tapes. Now settle in, turn it up a bit, and let’s see where it takes us. I hope you enjoy it. One side flip, just the music.

Virtual mixtape radio for the sonically adventurous. 20 artists. Drops about three times a week. No schedule, just a passion for independent music.
Good evening, or morning, or whatever sliver of the clock you’ve managed to carve out for yourself. This is Trev’s Virtual Cassette Library, episode 176. I’m your guide, Trevor.
The cassette sits ready in the deck, labels hand-scribbled, oxide already flaking a bit at the edges. Side A and Side B, twenty artists strung across them like beads on a frayed string. We’ll flip the tape halfway through, that satisfying clunk and hiss, because some things refuse to be digital.
Tonight we drift through ambient drifts, kosmische pulses, drone meditations, a touch of library funk, some psychedelic sprawl, electroacoustic murmurs from places like Bulgaria, the UK, Munich, Buenos Aires, Athens, Rome, Sheffield, Colorado, and a few others that don’t fit neatly on any map. The longest track stretches out patiently, Asha Patera’s – Wandering in the Upside Down from Sounds for the Soul Records, clocking in at just over 11 minutes. Durations aside, none hurry. There’s an exclusive track which open the B side from Moscow artist DEE_KAY and his track Bellcut. But we’ll get to all that in a bit. Headphones on if you’ve got them. Volume where it feels intimate. Let the kettle whistle if it wants to. The world can wait.
We begin with a January release from the Mahorka label in Bulgaria, a collected volume of drone and teknoiz spanning a decade. Autonomаton offers The UFO project remix—eerie, floating synth washes that suggest something observed from a great height, unhurried and slightly unsettling in the best way. From the album Collected Not Lost 2015-2025 Vol 1: Drone and Teknoiz.
Autonomаton – The UFO project remix.
Next, Mark Ellery Griffiths with Synthi Sequence B. Loops and sequences built on vintage synths, patient repetitions that build quiet architectures. Mark is a regular of my shows and doesn’t get the credit he should. Check out his Bandcamp releases. He’s nudging on 50 and they’re name your price. Synthi Loops Sequences 2025 – Self released back in December.
Mark Ellery Griffiths – Synthi Sequence B.

Greek artist Substak and his track Apartment Window from Belgian ambient label Daydreamers. A quick view onto quiet streets, field recordings woven into subtle rhythms, the sound of somewhere lived-in and watched over time. From the EP Empty Bench – released not two weeks ago.
Substak – Apartment Window.
A good friend of the channel Asha Patera, Wandering in the Upside Down. Dream-logic drifts and inverted atmospheres from Sounds for the Soul Records, like walking through familiar rooms that have rearranged themselves while you slept. The Vale of Shadows – Sounds for the Soul. Which is a Stranger Things inspired ambient compilation. Also released in January. This is the long haul.

Argentinian artist Puppy Bordiga with mRn, Solarium. Collaborative warmth, sunlit electronics and gentle percussion from Walking the Way III. Self released back in November.
Puppy Bordiga with mRn – Solarium.
ATA Records is a label and I can’t get my head around if they are also a band. They really know their library stuff but on this release and others the artist is simply ATA Records, no credits to the artists which is a shame. Anyway This is Tatsuya, The Sword. Library archive material, cinematic and evocative, with a heartfelt flute. drawn from Vol 4. The Library Archive Vol 4 – ATA Records.
ATA Records – Tatsuya, The Sword.
Tape flip. The mechanism clicks, heads realign, oxide continues its slow decay. Side B.

And here’s one from me, under Trevlad—EXPANSIVE WAVES 18 (Slipping Precautions Obvious). A previous transmission excerpt, layered and recursive. TVCL 07 – Trevlad.
Next the poppiest piece I’ve played in a good while. Nostalgia 77, You Where In My Dream Last Night. Dream-state jazz inflections, soft and lingering. Love the bass lines and sound. Now get your world music psychedelic slippers on. We’re off to Melbourne Australia. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Flying Microtonal Banana. Microtonal excursions, psychedelic without apology, the shortest in the episode at 2:34 yet packing strange tunings into tight space. From the album of the same fantastic name. Released on the Heavenly Recordings label about a year ago.
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard – Flying Microtonal Banana.
Now back to 2021 and some wonky synth chords. Near Stoic, Music For A Friend. Intimate, thoughtful pieces from Notebook Thoughts Short Stories on Third Kind Records. A definite Boards of Canada vibe to this one.

Miguel Otero – Blooming in Sturton Street.
And before the tape ends. Thanks for staying with it. These transmissions aren’t built for haste, and neither, I suspect, are you. Support the artists if any of this lodged somewhere—buy the music, share the names. Stream this one on Mixcloud for a week if you need to revisit. All the paths and links live at trevor.se. And if it was possible to close on a chiller note I think I have you covered. We close with Astropilot, The River Knows No Hurry. Flowing, unforced kosmische from Stockholm label Valley View Records, a reminder that some currents simply continue. Until the next time the cassette calls. Stay resonant. Stay expansive. Let the sounds find their own way. Trevor, signing off. Astropilot – The River Knows No Hurry.

At least two of the tracks contain the Bucla Music Easel.
The A side contains “On The Waves Of Neptune” an exclusive from the album “Where Trees Go To Die” the latest offering from Stone Anthem, a hallucinatory journey through ambient textures, dense organic drones, and otherworldly frequencies. Layering field recordings, modular synthesis, and hushed vocals, the album was created in an attempt to maximise immersion and create a sonic field of bliss, a slow-evolving soundscape where perception bends and time dissolves. The album’s initial blueprint was created in a quiet hamlet in the Spanish mountains in 2023 with very little equipment. So the scenery of forests and mountains were a great influence on the album’s development. This is also from where all of the field recordings on the album were sourced.
Castles in Space is delighted to be working with this charismatic, vibrant and super-talented young artist. He’s just turned 18.
The B side contains an exclusive by colab who I know nothing about and I don’t believe are the Georgian Hard techno outfit. The track here, Troubled appears on the Bricolage labels 27 track compilation album X celebrating their 10th year of magical releases. It’s a ‘who’s who’ of the label past, present and future. Do check it out. Links to everything played are in the show notes and in the comments.
I won’t be commenting between the tracks. You can join nanogods poetic visualisations on the time line. Don’t be shy.

Released 05.05.2024. Episode 018 of Invisible Waves follows a sine wave in energy. It starts and ends in the ambient and goes into the more electronica, idm in the middle.
There are some afterthoughts at the end taken from the Vayse podcast episode 026 featuring Douglas Batchelor.
