Today’s episode includes two exclusive tracks from upcoming releases. On the A side the track The Fifth Compass Point Dub from the single The Fifth Compass Point by Bristol outfit Trem 77. Inspired by the concept of the fifth compass point. An idea beyond directional coordinates. Through the center point of the compass rose runs an axis that can be imagined as an array of transecting lines running through that point. More than a center point, it is an intersection that could include time running forward and backward in all directions away from the two dimensional compass plane. In this sense, it might be the truest symbol of the here and now. Is it the heart center, a jumping off point for experiencing all that there is, or both simultaneously? The B side features an upcoming release from the Italian composer and multi instrumentalist Bruno Bavota. Here with the track, when we collide, from the album, I’m losing you, which will be released on German label oscarson on September 19. The record showcases Bruno’s signature combination of acoustic piano and subtle electronics, now enriched with expressive string arrangements performed by violinist Laura Masotto. The album is a meditation on loss in its many forms — from absence and nostalgia to quiet acceptance. Through looping piano motifs, gently pulsing electronics, and emotionally resonant strings, I’m Losing You invites listeners into a vulnerable, immersive world of sound and feeling. With this release, Bavota further refines his neoclassical voice, offering a moving and cinematic work that speaks to both personal emotion and universal experience.

From Newcastle’s electronic frontier, Bartholomew brings us “Land Fracture”, a track from his forthcoming album Subterranea, releasing July 25th via Castles In Space very own Lunar Module. Crafted by composer Chris Bartholomew, whose theatrical credits include the Barbican and National Theatre Studio, this piece fuses cinematic storytelling with generative electronics, orchestral textures, and raw sonic abrasion. It’s a meditation on instability—both geological and emotional. 🌀 “Land Fracture” feels like a fault line rendered in sound. Granular textures crackle beneath sweeping harmonic arcs. Released by Adventurous Music, a non-profit label based in Leipzig, this 108-page book is printed on recycled paper with climate-neutral methods. The label that makes soundtracks for movies that do not exist. On the B Side there is an exclusive from Julia Gjertsen & Gustav Davidsson – Into The Rain – from the album – Wandering Mind, Drifting Weather, a meditative ambient collaboration between Norwegian pianist Julia Gjertsen and Swedish trombonist Gustav Davidsson. Created through a slow, cross-border exchange of musical sketches, the album blends expressive piano and atmospheric trombone into a series of compositions that evoke the passing moods of nature—shifting light, soft breezes, and drifting weather fronts. Rooted in classical training but embracing improvisation, the duo sculpt an intimate soundworld where melody and spontaneity coexist. Minimal electronics, Wurlitzer tones, and quiet pads enhance the organic interplay, while each piece captures the fleeting beauty of a moment. The result is a tranquil yet emotionally resonant suite that explores time, mood, and natural transformation—where weather becomes metaphor and sound becomes sanctuary.
