Virtual 90 minute mixtapes for the sonically adventurous. 30 artists, two 45 minute sets. A spoken intro followed by music only show. Drops about three times a week. No schedule, just a passion for independent music.
“Hello, I’m Trevor, and this is episode one‑six‑one of the Virtual Cassette Library—which also happens to be my 900th mix show. I’m not entirely sure how that happened, but here we are. Today’s theme is Obey Beams Starting—which, as usual, is both the track you’re hearing underneath and a location you can find on a map, if you’re the sort who enjoys chasing coordinates on What3Words. We’ve got ninety minutes ahead—two sides, fifteen tracks each. Some names you’ll know, some you won’t, and that’s half the fun. Early on you’ll hear Night Birds by The Inventors of Aircraft—an exclusive from the upcoming Whitelabrecs compilation sleeplaboratory6.0. Always a pleasure to be able to share something before it officially takes flight. Now then, starting back on episode 156, there’s a little cipher game running through the series. Each episode, during the intermission, you’ll hear a number. Scribble it down. After ten episodes, you’ll have the full sequence. Put the pieces together, crack the cipher, and you’ll unlock a code that knocks ninety‑five percent off anything on my Bandcamp page. Which means you can scoop up the whole discography for about two quid. It’s not meant to be difficult—just enough to keep you awake at night wondering if you’ll get it right. The rest of the show wanders through winter light, spectral electronics, Casio memories, kosmische detours, festive oddities, and the occasional unexpected left‑turn. The sort of thing you might stumble across late at night on a shortwave dial, wondering if you imagined it. So—headphones on, let time dissolve, and let the music claim you.”

“Hello, I’m Trevor, and this is episode one‑five‑nine of the Virtual Cassette Library. Today’s theme is Twist Fondest Waffle—which, as usual, is both the track you’re hearing underneath and a location you can find on a map, if you’re the sort who enjoys chasing coordinates on What3Words. We’ve got ninety minutes ahead—two sides, fifteen tracks each. Some names you’ll know, some you won’t, and that’s half the fun. We begin with Arbee & Norvik drifting through a Montréal alleyway, Bary Center disappearing into the trees, and Pocket Lint reminding us that we grow through our friends. There’s a rise‑in‑love from micca, diamond‑cracking teeth from pjpriiincess, and a new sun courtesy of GODTET. Later on, we’ll hear winter choruses from Unruly Disturbance, a 2025 remaster from Ian Boddy & Chris Carter, and a snowy Christmas‑Eve vignette from On Idyl. Leisure Prison gives us another living space, Tim Story offers a dust bale hole, and Clearways pings us exactly once before Michael D. Tidwell closes the A side. On the flip side, Tapemoth brings entropy, Marie dissolves into a Bahrambient remix, and IKSRE gives us granite from Imaginary North. There’s cartography from Droning Cats with NRV, Italian library breaks from Modern Sound Quartet, and a fading coordinate from Grant Beasley. Roedelius appears, as he often does, like a quiet blessing. I’ve slipped in one of my own—Another Oddly Screamed—before Floating Points and Raphah carry us gently to the end. It’s ambient, kosmische, wintery, slightly haunted, and occasionally festive in a sideways sort of way. The sort of thing you might stumble across late at night on a shortwave dial, wondering if you imagined it. So—headphones on, let time dissolve, and let the music claim you. First track up: Arbee & Norvik, Dans une ruelle, suite…”

Welcome to Trevor’s Virtual Cassette Library episode 102 A 90-minute journey with a metaphysical flip at the halfway mark—perfect for a long walk, a mental wander, or a quiet moment alone with the universe. Today’s flight is partially sponsored by these generous labels: Astra Solaria Recordings, Castles In Space, ARCHIVES, Error Prone Records, Moniker Eggplant, Sonor Music Editions, Bricolage, rohs! records, Mystery Circles,
As well as these artists who have sent me material: Augen, The Green Kingdom, Phil Dodds from Allmanna Town.
Much love to my Co-Host the poet, the Psychonaut, Nanogod, for his visualisations of what’s going on during the episodes.
Special thanks to Free Album Codes—always fueling the episodes with Bandcamp gems. 🙏
Also shout outs to, aeon_music, and Ottervision, for the follows, likes and comments.
At least two of the tracks contain the Bucla Music Easel.
The A side contains “On The Waves Of Neptune” an exclusive from the album “Where Trees Go To Die” the latest offering from Stone Anthem, a hallucinatory journey through ambient textures, dense organic drones, and otherworldly frequencies. Layering field recordings, modular synthesis, and hushed vocals, the album was created in an attempt to maximise immersion and create a sonic field of bliss, a slow-evolving soundscape where perception bends and time dissolves. The album’s initial blueprint was created in a quiet hamlet in the Spanish mountains in 2023 with very little equipment. So the scenery of forests and mountains were a great influence on the album’s development. This is also from where all of the field recordings on the album were sourced.
Castles in Space is delighted to be working with this charismatic, vibrant and super-talented young artist. He’s just turned 18.
The B side contains an exclusive by colab who I know nothing about and I don’t believe are the Georgian Hard techno outfit. The track here, Troubled appears on the Bricolage labels 27 track compilation album X celebrating their 10th year of magical releases. It’s a ‘who’s who’ of the label past, present and future. Do check it out. Links to everything played are in the show notes and in the comments.
I won’t be commenting between the tracks. You can join nanogods poetic visualisations on the time line. Don’t be shy.

Welcome aboard episode 086 of Trevor’s Virtual Cassette Library, your sonic vessel for deep immersion and metaphysical resonance. Today, we drift through a 90-minute odyssey: a two-sided portal cut into time, perfect for long twilight walks, candlelit notebooks, and cosmic solitude. Born from BBC Radio 3 whispers and strung across piano, strings, and eroded collages, Adrian’s newest work is a timeworn spell—a mist-cloaked remembrance written in chords and texture. It’s his most classical offering yet, tempered by ambient edge and handcrafted melancholy. Alongside Adrian’s piece, the forest grows deeper with sonic threads from: Noctyrn, Jiri Jiri, Warmfield, Trevlad, Michele Di Martino, Bryan Rohmer, Jamie Lidell, Sons Of Faust, Andrew Heath, Mark Ellery Griffiths, Fabio Keiner, BVSMV, Bowing, Jeff Gburek, Patrick R. Pärk, Eje Eje, LOULA YORKE, Rival Consoles, Wilfried Hanrath, and Marc Neys. No spoken interludes from me—this transmission breathes in uninterrupted form. It’s a farewell—but not a quiet one. Vocals from Morgan, Tommy, Fernanda González, Juan Cordova, and Juan Pablo Ortíz rise like mist from the undergrowth, weaving through classical guitar and delicate electronics. Born in the mist forests of Valle de Bravo, Mexico, this track mourns the loss of fireflies, birds, crickets, and the endangered Abronias—small, dragon-like reptiles now on the red list. But it also carries hope. A call to listen. A call to act. The full album releases July 18, 2025. This one’s for the dragons. 🔁 Virtual B-Side Exclusive: “^We Dance” by vx/hope 🎧 From the upcoming album the hungry will always choose a full belly over a full mind 🕯️ Sponsored by Woodford Halse’s sister label, Preston Capes Neil Whitehead and Pete Hope return with a track that misleads with its title—offering not celebration, but confrontation. Gravel-voiced poetry over pummeling beats and abstract textures. Dance music for the disenchanted. The full album drops August 1, 2026. “^We Dance” appears only in the digital edition—slightly extended and fully unhinged. 🎶 Also featuring: Backpullver, Shamanez, gribbles, Trevlad, Tim Six, Flux Of Sensations, John Scott Shepherd, Jamie Zarfas, Bartosz Dziadosz, The Flashbulb, Sandro Brugnolini, eardrops, Tim Koch, Waldgrenze, Chaircrusher, Fred Thomas, Philippe Neau, LR Friberg, Christian Kleine, Wavefiler, x.y.r., Suncastle, and no1uknw. This episode includes 3 exclusive tracks that you’ll probably only hear here before they are officially released. On the A side we have Hendekagon – Die Zeitzeit accompanies Die Verschiebung der Zeit, a German-language book of 22 humorous and philosophical essays by Corina Retzlaff exploring the concept of time. The volume is enriched with abstract artwork by Francis Théberge and an exclusive soundtrack by Hendekagon that echoes and expands the themes of the text. Released by Adventurous Music, a non-profit label based in Leipzig, this 108-page book is printed on recycled paper with climate-neutral methods. The included soundtrack adds a surreal sonic dimension to the reflective, often playful explorations of temporality. This is more than a book or an album—it’s a multimedia meditation on how we perceive and experience time, through words, images, and sound. Also on the A side. Supporter, subscriber and true friend of the show Gareth Evans also known as HDRF or Horror Dwarf sent me the track Memories of Dust which will appear on a desert themed compilation, out next month on the Aural Films label. The label that makes soundtracks for movies that do not exist. On the B Side there is an exclusive from Julia Gjertsen & Gustav Davidsson – Into The Rain – from the album – Wandering Mind, Drifting Weather, a meditative ambient collaboration between Norwegian pianist Julia Gjertsen and Swedish trombonist Gustav Davidsson. Created through a slow, cross-border exchange of musical sketches, the album blends expressive piano and atmospheric trombone into a series of compositions that evoke the passing moods of nature—shifting light, soft breezes, and drifting weather fronts. Rooted in classical training but embracing improvisation, the duo sculpt an intimate soundworld where melody and spontaneity coexist. Minimal electronics, Wurlitzer tones, and quiet pads enhance the organic interplay, while each piece captures the fleeting beauty of a moment. The result is a tranquil yet emotionally resonant suite that explores time, mood, and natural transformation—where weather becomes metaphor and sound becomes sanctuary. Coming out on Whitelabrecs on the 19 July.
