The A side contains “On The Waves Of Neptune” an exclusive from the album “Where Trees Go To Die” the latest offering from Stone Anthem, a hallucinatory journey through ambient textures, dense organic drones, and otherworldly frequencies. Layering field recordings, modular synthesis, and hushed vocals, the album was created in an attempt to maximise immersion and create a sonic field of bliss, a slow-evolving soundscape where perception bends and time dissolves. The album’s initial blueprint was created in a quiet hamlet in the Spanish mountains in 2023 with very little equipment. So the scenery of forests and mountains were a great influence on the album’s development. This is also from where all of the field recordings on the album were sourced.

Castles in Space is delighted to be working with this charismatic, vibrant and super-talented young artist. He’s just turned 18.

The B side contains an exclusive by colab who I know nothing about and I don’t believe are the Georgian Hard techno outfit. The track here, Troubled appears on the Bricolage labels 27 track compilation album X celebrating their 10th year of magical releases. It’s a ‘who’s who’ of the label past, present and future. The A side opens with a super exclusive by Granada Spain duo Kiko & Miguel better known as, matsu. The track Quietud will be their 4th single from their upcoming release Umbral. The album is not due for release until october 2. This single will be officially released on September 18, but you non subscribers can hear it here until the 23 august. The album, Umbral, inhabits that in-between space, that threshold: where what we feel and what we do don’t fully align, where what once felt steady begins to tremble. The release will be accompanied by an 8-part film, with each chapter conceptually interpreting one of the album’s tracks. Together, all eight chapters form a visual entity that shares the name Umbral. The film is directed by filmmaker and artist Héctor Ayuso.

Drew Huddart’s Scholars of the Peak – Hermit Station No. 7 (The Lost Bird) – PCT 27 – Transmissions from Mother Hill. An album that charts a sonic topography shaped by memory, myth and movement — a suite of transmissions echoing from the ancient ridgelines and cavernous depths of Mam Tor, the legendary “Mother Hill” of the Peak District. Each piece draws from the landscape’s natural upheavals and human imprints: from ancient burial paths to a wartime wreckage, from collapsed earth to long-forgotten mines.
Due for release on September 1 on the amazing Preston Capes cassette label.

Moray Newlands – Closing (exit) – The Red Red Earth. Moray’s been ruminating on the inevitability of death and how it will come to us all at some point. The red red earth is the culmination of these thoughts and feelings. The meaning of the red red earth, he’s not entirely sure, however it does relate to the soil found along the east coast of Scotland, close to where he lives now and where, you know, one day, perhaps…. The album should ideally be listened to as a single continuous mix which I’ll be featuring on an upcoming episode of Expansive Waves.

Today’s episode includes two exclusive tracks from upcoming releases. On the A side the track The Fifth Compass Point Dub from the single The Fifth Compass Point by Bristol outfit Trem 77. Inspired by the concept of the fifth compass point. An idea beyond directional coordinates. Through the center point of the compass rose runs an axis that can be imagined as an array of transecting lines running through that point. More than a center point, it is an intersection that could include time running forward and backward in all directions away from the two dimensional compass plane. In this sense, it might be the truest symbol of the here and now. Is it the heart center, a jumping off point for experiencing all that there is, or both simultaneously?
The B side features an upcoming release from the Italian composer and multi instrumentalist Bruno Bavota. Here with the track, when we collide, from the album, I’m losing you, which will be released on German label oscarson on September 19. The
record showcases Bruno’s signature combination of acoustic piano and subtle electronics, now
enriched with expressive string arrangements performed by violinist Laura Masotto.
The album is a meditation on loss in its many forms — from absence and nostalgia to quiet
acceptance. Through looping piano motifs, gently pulsing electronics, and emotionally resonant
strings, I’m Losing You invites listeners into a vulnerable, immersive world of sound and feeling.
With this release, Bavota further refines his neoclassical voice, offering a moving and cinematic
work that speaks to both personal emotion and universal experience.
